Something Scary This Way Comes

This competition has ended. Watch out for a new one starting soon.

Can you write a scary poem? Halloween is nearly here and we have ten copies of the brilliant Werewolf Club Rules by Joseph Coelho (published by Frances Lincoln) to give away as prizes. Your poem could be about vampires, ghosts or zombies. It could be about those strange noises you hear in the middle of the night. It could be about bats or spiders. And why does Grandpa always sleep in that big wooden box in the cellar? Your poem can be long or short, funny or serious or sad. It can be in rhyme, or in a poetic form such as a kenning, an acrostic, free verse or haiku. But it should raise a scary shiver or a shuddery smile or two.

The deadline is Monday November 10th

Poems must be in English and you must be between 3 and 18 years old to enter. You may enter as many poems as you like. The winners, and the best of the rest, will appear here December. Write your poem in the competition box below. And make sure you include your email address so that we can contact you if you win. Good luck!
