This competition is now CLOSED. The winners will be announced soon. And a new competition is being prepared. Watch this space.
Write a poem about an animal or animals. Your poem can be about any type of animal – insect, fish, bird, small creature, huge beast. It can be all about your pet dog or hamster, or your favourite wild animal. It can be about dinosaurs, mythical beasts or even about an alien animal that you have invented. It can be funny, silly, sad or serious, long or short, rhyming or non-rhyming and in any style. It’s up to you.
We have six copies of Riding a Lion by Coral Rumble to give away as prizes.
You can find out more about this fantastic book by reading our review page. Brian Moses writes: “Coral’s poems are rich with dreams and possibilities. They are in turn playful and thoughtful… packed full of lines that make the reader pause and think ‘hey, that’s exactly how it is’.”
Write your poem in the competition box below. And make sure you include your email address so that we can contact you if you win. You don’t have to be in the UK to enter, but poems must be in English. And you must be aged between 3 and 18 years old. You may enter as many poems as you like. Poems MUST be your own work.
The six winners, plus the best of all the poems entered, will be featured here on the Poetry Zone in the Spring. (After you’ve sent your poem it won’t appear in the Poetry Zone in the normal way, so remember to come back and check in April.)
The competition closes on FRIDAY 26th MARCH.
Good luck!
