Night

1
by Maddie Davies

Neck craned, glistening white
Winds unfurl, the swan gives flight
Shimmering lake, waxing moon
Stars appear, birds cease their tune
Branches like lace, snails trace
whispering wind, silver fish finned
the lone wolf’s cry, the owls hoot
like a mellifluous melody on a flute
tear laden grass, polished stone
quivering mouse, white as bone
shards of grass, mirroring the moon
and all that’s heard is the animal’s haunting tune

Angel Girl

1
by Emory Reed Brinson

The epoch after the storm
Was kind to me.
It blessed me with an angel
And that alone was enough
To have me struggling
To dig myself out of that dark place.
My angel had wings
Woven of gold and silver
Sometimes she shined so bright
I had to close my eyes
Or else tears would fall down my cheeks
From the sheer beauty of her.
The storm left me
Beaten and broken
On a well-trampled path.
But then she came to me
In a halo of golden light
And I was saved.
The storm brought only pain and suffering.
She filled my mind with images of hope and beauty.
The Epoch after the storm
Was kind to me.
It blessed me with an angel of a girl.

Setting My Journey!

5
by Soha Borouni

I sometimes look up into the sky
and wonder what my future will bring to me,
Like being someone like the ‘crazy ones’
and succeed successfully.

Sometimes I look behind my shoulders
and remember all my history,
like the friends that I met
that waved goodbye unreasonably.

Sometimes I look up to my surroundings
and watch what steps they take,
So I follow theirs and then realise
what a mistake I make.

Sometimes I think
maybe a change would be fun
another routine to get through,
And different things to get done.

But sometimes I don’t realise how closed I am,
Like I just want to unwrap my box and tell the world what I am.
And sometimes I feel like the world is on my case,
like I just want to shut down and go back to my phase.

And sometimes I feel like I want to fly out of my nest,
And spread my words and what I can do,
But then I take one step back and realise
what I could get myself into.

But someday I will take that risk
and let my inner soul guide me,
and repay the favours
and set my own journey.

Loving You

by Savannah Little

Loving you is easy,
Its the most natural thing to do.
My two parents whom gave life to me
In this world’s paths that I pursue.

Always if I need them
Either one, be it mum or dad.
The greatest love which has no boundaries
The greatest love ever to be had.

And I will always love you both
For your love has always helped me through my life.
Lessons you’ve both taught me
And helping me out of struggle’s strife.

Even when if misbehaved
Still your there for me always.
And through every painful feeling
Felt before
Yet still your love never strays.

Thank you mum and dad I say to you
For everything you’ve ever done for me.
For although I may not show my gratefulness.
Please know it’s there deep inside and will forever be.

So thank you both for giving me my life
And for giving me the gift of breath.
I will always love you for eternity
And until my very last and final breath

Meningioma Wars

by John Anthony Danos

It happened
The fight was won
But the war has only just begun
The enemy was swept from the right side
While the tensions built on the inside
The families waited by the door
To see if their loved one
Would come home just once more
The problem was gone
But the pressure was too much
And the nation went under just as such
The soldiers tried to fix it
Opening up the nation once more
They cut through the wall that kept the pressure inside
And when the loved ones came home
They had too much in their mind
They would seize and shake
Because of the trauma they had gone through
Recovery won’t be a sprint but a marathon

Watch Me Fly

Watch Me Fly

No more.
I was weak. No more, things have changed.
Now I have transformed with vibrant hues weaved
together creating an intricate cloth. Embracing the story
of who I used to be, so delicate and fragile. Hiding from
the world afraid and alone. Fearing the contact could cause
me to shatter, a damage I could not
fix. I am surrounded by danger. I am surrounded
by the taunting unknown. No more hiding. I refuse to let
others bring me down. Just let them watch as I fly away
without fear. For I have changed. I have transformed.
I will not let you break me anymore.

Words

by Jasmine Dang

Words are nothing but sounds, nothing to see

Wavelengths throughout the air

But these sounds flow like the sea

Joining to form words, that you must treat with care

Beause they can quickly become wildfire

Or become the warm breeze

Those simple words can create a liar

Or calm a crowd with ease

One sentence can put a smile on one’s face

Or put a tear in one’s eye

This dangerous weapon of the human race

Can paint red into the sky

The Competitive Pool

by Gabby Mendoza

Diving blocks, some lean like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Starting beep, hard breathing, loud splashes, and cheering.
The strong fragrance of chlorine overpowering any other smell.
Taste of determination to win just like Olympians.
Nervousness, determination, and hard work to pay off here
