Phoenix

by Harshita Das

She felt she was watching the world burn
Go up in ashes, in dancing flames
To arise anew, after the steam
After the smoke had cleared away

He wished the sky be blue, frozen in ice
He wished for the oceans to freeze and winds to bite
He loved the blue water, the snow on the mountains
And feared they’d be tainted, for being too kind

Then she rose from the ashes, reborn
And he became the calm after the storm
Both like the phoenix
Realized their problems could not be destroyed or evaded

Aim for Fame

0
by Harshita Das

I stare from the ground, up into the starry sky
I will aim for glory; to be famous and known
Immortal through my name and deeds
People won’t ever forget the light that I had shown

And as I come closer to my egocentric goal
Performing deeds, for gain instead of good
I realize, no matter how bright I’ll twinkle and shine
The Sun will come up; and wipe all the stars into the abyss

Then, I get frustrated, furious and desperate
Immortality is what I had longed for, I had a clear aim
Now clinging to the crystal goal
I set forward to re-earn my fame

My goal didn’t change; but my methods did
For Villains are carved firmly onto stone
Instead of light; I would be the dark
I would be the one who people abhorred
And my name would be unbendable from history

And so I tell you, don’t trick yourself
Perform good deeds not for glory
But for yourself; for a clean conscience
Which grows from gratitude
And the happiness for the one you helped

Just One Night?

0
by Harshita Das

When I was young, I looked at the Moon
Gazing, as the stars around twinkled
Smiling with a sigh, I swooned
For they lit up my dark little world

It was shy and quiet, unlike the Sun
I could gaze without looking away
I gazed at it all night
And then I slept during the day

I came to the rooftop again after a week or two
But the glowing ball had vanished out of sight
I cried and cried, for the Moon had died
The mourning sadness lingered throughout the night

And then I came
To pay my respects at the grave
And I saw the Moon smiling once again
And I asked it “Just one night?”
And it whispered, “No”

That Spiritual Fruit

0
by Harshita Das

That ghostly fruit; that dangles between my eyes
And its sweet, treacle like taste, just within my reach
But I can’t touch it, no matter how hard I try
It feels as if, progress is stuck in rock-hard concrete

It sings to me, its voice like beckoning waves
Juicy and vibrant; like a flower calling an insect
Smiling how it will when it dances on my grave
Gnawing on my temptation, confident and erect

I feel the need to chase the phantom goal
The ambrosia that will fulfil all my desires
The ambrosia that man has long since stolen
It keeps me running with a blazing fire

Yet that spiritual fruit; never will I find
And I know, in some part of my heart
That the passionate fire of young wishes has made me blind
Was destined to burn out from the start

But I will chase that non-achievable dream
If only to survive another second; another day
To give me hope; like fire does to steam
That spiritual fruit, that shows me the ocean, but never the bay

What Am I?

My first is in Jaguar but not in Guitar,
My second is in Music but not in Far,
My third is in Galaxy and not once in Star,
My fourth is in Secrets and in Spa,
My Fifth is in Animal but not in Sky,
My sixth is in Win and also in Why,
What am I?…

Beaming-smiling at me,
In the miles of green,
In the miles of colours,
In the miles of free,
Just me and birds, fields, trees,
Just me and the sun, beaming-smiling,
Looking down at me.

What Am I?

Plant feeder
Human hydrator
Weather upsetter
Ocean maker
Without me you can’t live,
I am a type of drink,
What am I?

Answer: water

Storm

by Elsie

A storm of colours fills me
Am I blue?
Rouge?
Yellow?
Green?
Rose?
Orange?
Purple?
Marron?
I can’t make up my mind, which one I am!
My feelings inside are flying about,
Twisting, twirling, tumbling…
I don’t know how to figure it out.

What Am I?

If you feed me I will grow,
If I have a drink I’ll die,
If you touch me I’ll bite,
I will spread fast,
DO NOT add gas!
What am I?

A Puzzle To Me

0
by David P Carroll

Stuck forever in her mind
Oh sweetheart why am I
In what I don’t seem to understand her,
Stuck for now until ever
I’m puzzled by this matter.

I ask her help she laughs
But the problems never go away her love or mine
You can’t pass true love by
Happiness or sadness,

Real or fake?
My brain has frozen
My mind is a mess
In search of love oh wait
Or Death.

Puzzled by life
Puzzled by love
Truly puzzled by her
Love she loves me
She loves me not…
How do escape
This nightmare
It can’t go on
I need to get out
Of this place
There are no
Doors around

Only the sound
Of madness
Running wild

Where am I?

No hints from her
Nor is there a walk way
But I never knew
What love could do
To me it’s my love or her love

But trying to understand
True Love is truly

A puzzle to me…….
