Just a Fragment of My Story

0
by Darcey Rickus

For once we can rest as we are stuck,
Engulfed in fear, covered in muck.
My legs are aching, soon there will be no time,
I pull myself forward as I leave the front line.
We stumble in a drunken haze,
Ignorance is bliss,
Yet we near death today,
When the gas shells don’t miss.

Gas, gas surrounds me
I jump to my feet, that are covered in cuts,
Bundled in fear, lacking in luck.
The gas turns green and pollutes the air and
Men drop like flies as their lives are taken
How on Earth can this be fair?
A soldier runs at me with no breath left at all,
I run away as the figure in the fog slowly turns very small.

What would you do if you were in my position?
How would you feel if you failed your mission?
How would you know how to react?
What would you do if you saw this horrifying act?
How would you feel if you saw your best friends die?
Watching them struggle for air right in front of your eyes?
What would you do if you heard what I had?
Would you sleep peacefully at night, would you be glad?
What would you do if you experienced this horror?

So how can you say doing this for your country is good glory,
When you only know a fragment of my story.

Dolly Dolly

by Riley McGrath

Dolly Dolly was very small,
So Dolly Dolly sat on a stool,
Dolly Dolly was sitting up high,
Dolly Dolly squealed “OH MY!”
Dolly Dolly couldn’t get down,
Dolly Dolly had a frown,
Dolly Dolly was very sad,
Dolly Dolly was getting mad,
Dolly Dolly cried with a yelp,
So Dolly’s dad came to help.

sleep is for me
sleep with your eyes

A Tutorial

0
by Samuel

here we are,
in the middle of a war
one step
and it’s done for us all,
so here’s a short tutorial
make sure you don’t have a memorial
and other than that
ensure you’re ready for combat
cram the bottles with gasoline and styrofoam,
add a rag, aim for the target
light the rag on fire
and throw.
but don’t hesitate,
and I repeat
Do not HESITATE
for they will not hesitate
we wish you well
(in hell)
for we will pray
for our safe return
whilst you stay forevermore in that ditch.
and if you manage to figure out what the bullseye is,
then well done,
for you have completed level 1

Ocean

by Prisha

It lies right ahead of us,
as we listen to its resonance,
when it hastens and sprints to the shore.
You can smell the salt in the air,
you will love it even more.
Observe the rocks,
and let the sand take you away
then right in that moment you will find peace
and after a while,
you can’t stop but stare.

It makes you feel powerful
Love makes you feel unique
It makes you feel like you stand out
Love makes you feel inspirational
It makes you feel motivated
Love makes you feel successful
It makes you feel confident

Candy canes are yummy
They make my day feel sunny
When I go to the store
I just want more
Ooh, they are so nummy.

Solilquys of Sadness

2
by Harshita Das

I write and write; my rest is wrecked
Can’t stop thinking ‘bout how I’m blessed
Singing soliloquys of sadness;
Save some sleep; Gods I’m so stressed
Hard-pressed to pursue projects in progress,
Even if ideas disappear and I disconnect; just deal with the dread…
Bruises blossom past my fingers
Taut and tired, yet I still linger
The bees of burden; they say ‘Go sting her!’
Another night of sleepless whimpers
No sprints, just marathons
Stringing us along, on and on
On an endless chase for gooses gone
Tests are taken and tapestries torn
My best is breaking and my will is worn
The sword is drawn, my face forlorn
But the sword is rusting
For vacation, my heart is lusting
I promise my future that the first thing
She’ll get after this starving and thirsting
Is the thing for which her heart’s been bursting
No backlogs of work, no more hurting
And I’ll believe myself, a fool for trusting

The Message of Nature

0
by Oak

Another year,
Another life,
The trees grow old,
As another sapling is planted,
Awaiting its final destination.

Another year,
Another life,
They hold the Earth’s beauty in their hands,
And they hold tight
To make sure that this Earth can again become what it once was.

Another year,
Another life,
They will wait,
Standing proud and tall,
Hoping that you will listen to their message someday.

But when that message is lost,
Hope is lost,
The hope in humanity,
The hope in life,
And the hope in love

When that message is lost,
Destruction will take over,
And mother nature’s beauty will no longer stand,
But will hide in the corner
Still waiting
For you
To
Listen.
