Red

Fire, fire burning bright
the deepest sunset in the night
apples, juicy, shiny and sweet
blood spattered on the street
a soft blush on porcelain cheeks
red hot anger, how it shrieks
All this red as red can be,
red as the rose he gave to me
but what does red really mean?
Is it the curtains between each scene?
I don’t know, but one thing’s true,
red’s the heart that means I love you

Love is Hard

by Rebecca aged 9

Love can be hard, love can equal pain
Me and my boyfriend, oh why won’t he love me again?
He loves another girl, but why not me?
I can live with it but no one can compete.

The brawling of a sparrow in the eaves,
The brilliant moon and all the milky sky…

The Bombing Blitz

4
by Loren Morgan aged 10

The blitz has begun
planes chuckling everywhere
bombs jumping out of the planes at the
rapid beat of a heart

People in agony
screaming everywhere
kids being evacuated
Hitler doesn’t care

People feeling heart broken
as the shelter’s heart warmed
inviting people in

Civilians trapped, suffocated
by the dark and gloomy smoke.
the buildings collapse as they graze their knees,
while people ration for their teas.
buildings go in flames of fire, all because Hitler is a terrible liar.
blood flowing everywhere like a dream floating in the air.
Hitler really doesn’t care as all he can do is stop and stare.
People hide for dear life, as London’s heart is cut by a knife.
Crying city, rubble everywhere, bombs flying through the air.
Dreams that we all share, hoping that the blitz will end
Hitler, Hitler he is dead, he has gone to the sky.

Destruction of War

2
by Ashleigh Haile aged 10

dawning planes darting across the sky
like fearsome dragons setting the town alight
bullying bombs crash down on buildings

breaking and bruising hearts
bombs race to buildings causing damage
whilst London is falling to its knees

as sirens wail, bombs kick and punch
warning everyone clearly
people sprint like they’re in the Olympics
safely into a shelter

nervously, waiting
the sign of safety,
shelters wrapping you up,
keeping you company

furious, flaming fire,
filling lungs with smoke,
innocent, injured children start to choke

children evacuated,
roaming to the countryside,
parents whimper a sad goodbye
in the defenceless underground shelters.

The Blitz

1
by Keryn aged 10

The buildings cower as the Blitz begins.
The dangerous, deadly, demolishing bombs hit them constantly.
Buildings crumble and rumble, people crying as the planes were flying.
Devastating destruction everywhere, planes souring like eagles.
Shelters trap people, protect them from the devastating, demolishing, deadly bombs.
The buildings lungs are suffocated as the terrible, horrendous smoke rolls in.
the buildings tumble like dominoes.the constant scream get’s louder and louder.
The bulling bombs fight through the war, as Hitler just thinks it’s all a bore.
The people’s blood flows like a stream, as the bombs strike the weeping city.
Children crying as they wave goodbye, like a dream floating in the air.

World War 2 Wonders

The sirens blaring shriek echoes through the town
informing people the war has begun.
Fires, flaming, ferociously
blood flowing like a stream,
buildings standing tall,
bombs are dropping one by one
while the guiltless fearful people start to run.
Innocent, injured people start to cry led on their backs
staring at the gloomy, night sky.

London’s heart is broken, it’s torn into two,
worried people’s lungs fill with toxic smoke
cough, cough they start to choke.

The ghastly pong lingers through the air.
people bolt like there’s no tomorrow.
The sympathetic hospital opens their arms
as they hug and help you.

Finally the war is over
a sign of relief fills the town, phew!
As they start to clean up and rebuild people’s lives.

But sweetie pie

A Broken Heart’s Last Words

I can’t stay
I can’t be
you’re not here
you’re not with me
He can stay
he can be
he is everything
I couldn’t be
“Please let me stay,
please let me be.”
I beg and beg
I try to scream
you cannot stay
you “leave me be”
I don’t regret
to die happily.
