If I Were a Clock

2
by Seth and William aged 6

If I were a clock
I would go tick-tock.
I would eat a sock.
I would learn to knock.
I would live in a flock.
I’d scare a rock.
I’d give it a shock.
And if I were a clock
I would go tick-tock

If I Was a Cat

6
by Mia Kelly aged 4

If I was a cat
I’d sit on a mat
I would be fat
I’d hit a bat
I’d play with a rat
I’d like to chat
I’d like to be a cat

Please Mrs Butler
This boy called Derek
Keeps copying my work, Miss
What should I do?
Lock yourself in the cupboard, dear

The Day I Built a Den

2
by Sam Decie aged 5 and a half

Once upon a time
I built a den
And my name was Ben

It was red
Like a tomato
and the windows were as shiny
As a block of gold

And when I was walking
Out in the woods
A trap went boom!

And I went zoom!

My House

0
by Nadine aged 6

A house in the wind is calm and still
Oh look, I can see a daffodil.

I can see a balloon
Look at that lovely Moon

Pencils

0
by Alexia Ioana Rachi aged 6

I have a few pencils
in my hand
I’m not going to draw with them
what I will do
is make a design
first, a triangle design
then, a design
with two long legs
(the other two you cannot see)
yes, it is a table, indeed
then I put the pencils
back in my hand
and just write
a beautiful poem
with one of them

The Butterfly

1
by Lorelei Moss aged 7

Fluttering across the meadow,
in all sorts of colours,
landing on bluebells and leaves.

Red, blue and green,
massive, small, swirly, lined,
turquoise, violet, zigzag, patterned,
I don’t care, I love butterflies!

In Spring they dart about
and when you see one like a rainbow,
it fills you with hope and joy.

Competition Winner. Well done.

The duck liked the puddle
But he didn’t like the cuddle
