As scrumptious as a dark chocolate bar,
As brown as a muddy swamp
As juicy as a red apple
As sweet as honey!
First Poems
Apple Pie and Custard
As hot as an oven
As crumbly as a fallen down statue
As slippery as a snake
As spicy as a hot red chilli
As yellow as the brightest African sun
As sweet as the ripest red strawberry
All About Pretty Things
Kay is pretty
Puppies are pretty
Kittens are pretty
But a yo-yo is not pretty
Sometimes small plates are pretty
Sometimes painted pots are pretty
Sometimes paintings are pretty
But doors are not pretty
Tell Tale Tilly
Tell Tale Tilly said
I rode on a seahorse and
found a pot of gold.
I galloped on a unicorn
and found what it was
like in days of old.
She told that to Mandy
who told it to Sandy
who told it to Lily who
told it to the boy next door
and he told it to teacher
and teacher said
what a funny tale
Have you heard it, Tilly?
(this poem won the poetry category award in Telling Tales Nottingham Kids Festival of Imagination 2014)
Berries and Cherries
My teeth a cherry would sweeten
like berries
I hate berries
and celery
Spooky Island
There was a zombie at my door
I felt very poor
He gave me a bad sore
Right on my paw
I never said a word
I never heard
The zombie on Spooky Island
St Nick
Merry Christmas
The bells are ringing
Jingle jingle jingle
All the the elves are making toys
To send to our houses
We open the presents in the morning
We go to are family’s house
And have Christmas dinner
And eat our Christmas pudding
Yumm yumm yumm very yummy
I was hungry writing this
Merry Christmas to everyone
