Everything Changed

0
by Annum Butt aged 11

The day when everything changed,
The world turned upside down,
Smiles into frowns,
Frowns into smiles,
The moon into daylight,
The sun into midnight.

Strolling through the park,
Watching cars walk,
Whilst ducks sang,
Nature stood close.

People started flying,
Gliding through the clouds,
Weather changing like a fluent piece of writing.

Babies were walking,
Yet children were crawling,
Babies were singing,
However, children were dribbling.

Mummy

by Chloé Carlin aged 10

Mummy was happy she smiled a lot
then one day she just stopped.
It wasn’t her fault it was all too much.
They called her paralysed
I don’t know what that means.
Mummy was sad, mummy was angry,
she cried too many days.
It’s OK mummy I love you always.
Mummy was my butterfly
but now she was broken.
You could see she was a butterfly too
and you taught her even broken was beautiful.
Piece by piece you helped
to put mummy’s broken parts back together.
She began to smile,
then I heard her laugh and I smiled too.
Mummy got stronger
and brighter and more like my mummy.
I said mummy don’t give up on me
and I won’t give up on you.
But most of all I still have a mummy
and that’s really down to you.
I love and am loved
thankfully that’s because we met you.
Thank you.

Change

Change
Change
Change is everywhere,
Swallowing us up, floating in the air.

But change has always been here,
He’s just bigger this year.

His arms open wide,
Embracing us, not choking
And we embrace him, still hoping.

But change is not all bad.

I can still dance,
Let the music take me

I can still laugh,
But louder this time,
To be heard.

I can still breathe,
But now the air is cleaner,
Filled with hope, yes we can still see her.
I can still love.
But I love more, to my neighbours, carers,
and to everything we strive for.
So yes, change is here,
And he will stay forever,

So don’t struggle,
As what change has done,
Cannot be unfolded,

So keep on dancing ,
Laughing,
Breathing,
Hoping,

And love more.

Nature’s Visions

0
by Katy Hislop aged 11

Look to the sun in the early night,
Look at its sinking light.
Look to the sun shining in the morning,
Look at it rising without a warning.
Look at the moon when the sky is black,
Look at it waiting for the sun to come back.
Look at the stars when the moon comes out,
Look at them dancing, too many to count.

Toffee

by Olivia Smith aged 11

Toffee is cute, as cute as a teddy bear
I want to juggle him always
when he’s in my little bed
Toffee is cute, as naughty as can be
but we love him from our heads
down to our knees

Eyes

0
by Lilliah Amilee Naylor-Mcdonald aged 12

Eyes can reveal secrets,
While others see bleakness,
The shifting of a gaze,
Can reveal a new phrase.
While eyes are hard to study,
The rewards can be lovely,
But they can also scar,
You question who you are.

Those eyes are showing hatred,
Destroying what you created,
Those eyes are showing lust,
Questioning who you trust,
Those eyes are showing confusion,
Creating another illusion.

Before you look at someone’s eyes,
Remember it’s like a mystery prize,
You could find happiness and bliss,
Or you could fall into the abyss.

A Better World

0
by Annabelle Meurisse aged 13

A world
Full of love
And hate
One vision
One dream
One girl wishing for changes
For changes which need to be made
To create a world full of acceptance.

A world
Where is doesn’t matter whether you’re male or female
Where you don’t have to hide who you love
You don’t have to be afraid you’ll be made fun of
A world of acceptance.

Of equality
Where you can be free
To love who you love
And where the colour of your skin doesn’t define you
Where you’re not persecuted based on what you look like
or what you believe
Where you can feel safe walking down the street
Where you aren’t catcalled for wearing sweatpants
Where you’re not taunted for what you wear
Where you’re not ashamed of what you look like

A world where
Everyone has the same advantages and disadvantages
None lives in poverty
Everyone is accepted
Everyone is able to be whatever they want to be
Do whatever they want
Without being taunted, ridiculed or being shamed
Because of it.

The Stormy Sea

0
by Reina Rose Janet Brogan aged 8

The sound of the thunder is despicable, screams ringing in my ears
It’s deafening and booming with no despair
The lightning strikes jaggedly, it’s blinding
The sea is a roaring lion, with claws of a monster
It moves with no melancholy, it is aggressive and threatening
The rain is a pattering bullet piercing my skin
It’s as cold as freezing ice

by Shifa Asif aged 10

Oh, I just woke up.
What is the fuss?
Come with me,
We are taking the bus!
Please can you tell me what is the fuss?
Oh come and sit on the bus!
We are going to celebrate!

Too many questions,
Just wait and see!
Now I’m waiting to arrive patiently!
Oh I’m so happy!
Waiting patiently for the bus to stop
Oh, it’s taking so many cuts!
Mama, please give me my pack of nuts!
URGGGHHH!!!!!!!! IF YOU SAID ONE MORE THING,
YOU ARE NOT COMING WITH ME!!!
We are going to celebrate!
Now SHUSHH!

That Friend

0
by Charlottei aged 10

I have a friend
Invisible and kind
I only see glasses
But I don’t mind

Helpful and useful
One of the sort
Round and happy
Stubby and short

Boy or girl
We’ll never know
The gender of my friend
Will never show

Glasses shiny
With a clean black frame
Nobody reveal
My kind friend’s name

My favourite friend
Completely unknown
Without my friend
I’ll be all alone

So my lovely friend
Please don’t leave
Though you’ll be free
I know I will grieve
