Look Stranger

Look, stranger,
The warm pouring rain,
On the endless fields of green,
Perfect, jewelled, vibrantly green grass,
Brushing against your fingertips.

Look, stranger,
The rain turning into wet thuds,
The warm showers racing to meet the ground,
The spicy earth scent of autumn.
Entering your nose.

Look, stranger,
Scattered powder-puff clouds,
Wandering around the sky,
Nothing is still,

Apart

From

You.

The World That I See

0
by Bani Joshi aged 7

A beautiful world is what I see
The Sun, the sky and the deep blue sea
The nature is so bright and alive
But I wish we could just let it be.
Let us see the kindness in each other and not be mean.
That’s my dream, that’s my dream, that’s my dream.

Imagine If

0
by Chloe Shanks aged 12

Imagine if we walked outside to find,
A world of laughter, peace and kind,
That’s what I imagine in my mind.

Imagine if there were no wars,
Anyone could go outdoors,
I’m sure that that would get a big applause.

Imagine if our seas were clean,
Everything would be so green,
You’d find that in a magazine.

Imagine if there was no poaching,
That would need a bit of couching,
All those whales would be breaching.

Upon Riveting

by Aafreen Zainab Kashif aged 15

I envision a future
When worry diminishes,
When the battle wears,
When the calamity finishes,
And when the tears are spared.

I picture a philosophy,
With entwining smiles,
With shaking hands,
And with wisps of warmth,
Which the heart understands.

I daze upon a daydream,
With truthful skies and roaming sands,
With eyes of stars and gait of grand,
With no fear to stop us. no fret to stand,
When goodwill is our homeland.

Blinding Lights of Vision

0
by Amelia Woodward aged 11

Very bright lights burning my eyes .
I could see only darkness flooding in me .
Sights went away so I had no idea what people did in front of me .
I Still had people that cared for me, but beautiful creatures, plants, humans and even objects were no longer there for me to see .
Only blackness is what I can see
Nothing could change this. I had a dream but the sun was extinguished and the stars wandered and then I could see nothing but a black shadow forever. So I will say very bright lights burned my eyes!

Sunflower

by Julia Michalek aged 11

As the sunflower sways on the fields,
As the sun starts to set,
As the petals start to fall,
As the leaves turn orange,
The sunflower still stands with pride,
The sunflower shows its beauty to the world.

His Prison

0
by Alanna Hounsom aged 14

“You’re beautiful,” they say,
“I wish I were you.”
So young and fragrant,
Like the cherry blossom that’s blooms in Spring.
Glance at me- am I really?

“You’re slim,” they say,
“I want to be you!”
Of all words you use;
You compare me to the school’s sweetheart.
Glance at me- am I really?

“Your smile- it’s lovely,
your teeth are so straight!”
Have you seen my tongue?
It hisses at the sweet melodies he taunts on my shoulder.
Take another look- are they really?

“Your eyes- they glow,
like sun on winter snow!”
But little do you know,
The blood they shed from the claws of his spawn.
Take another look- do they really?

“Your heart, it’s golden,
your intentions are so pure!”
Ha! What a joke. I’m –
Like foolish Eve’s apple from his tree.
Oh, how impure she came to be.

And yet someone like you,
Should shower me in compliments.
Only to turn your back and spit your venom at me.
Stare again- should you really?

Or maybe… that isn’t you?
You aren’t as you seem.
Well dear, same here –
When the bystanders battle with my words, they have no idea
Of the battle inside my head.

So go ahead – glance, stare,
Look hard into my soul.
And remember the prison I am trapped within –
His prison I am trapped within.

Fate Poem

1
by Mia Monkman aged 11

Leaves keep blowing, and I’m still going
but I can’t seem to find my fate.
I’ll keep searching while you’re still knowing
where I am today.
So don’t give up hope,
don’t give up
no, we will find our way.

2020 Vision

1
by Saskia Cambatta aged 12

I see, the World needs to change.
Its getting drastic!
For me to grow old.
Beaches covered in plastic!
It used to be cold.
Now the Planets getting warmer.
Animals dying, Earth’s feeling like a sauna.

I see Covid coming, symptoms arising.
The Government eventually started advising.
Schools out. Lockdown. No one flying!
Wear masks in schools and shops, stop people dying!

I see George Floyd was killed leaving the shops.
By who? No way! It was the cops!
Black Lives Matter on the news.
Protesters arrested for what is right.
Gun shots ooze.
But it was only a fight!

Not all things are sugar on ice.
Like the icebergs making the sea levels rise.
These problems won’t just melt away.
I see the Earth starting to decay.
In my 2020 vision today.

Colourblind

0
by Daisy Woods aged 11

You and me,
We can see,
The wonders of the world,
In hundreds of thousands of colours

But for some others the world is not the same.
Black and white, black and white.
Same old, same old.
No magenta, nor cyan, nor turquoise.

Some are colourblind…

So next time you see
the most wonderful of colours,
take a moment,
a minute to be grateful
that you can see colour.
