Why We Love Animals

0
by Edie aged 10

Animals are cute and some of them are cheeky, but some
of them in the sea are actually quite freaky.
Narwhals, dogs, alpacas and cats but
apparently nobody really likes rats!

In the jungle some animals like to play, but because
of the people the animals can’t stay!

Many people would like these creatures to remain, so
we have to help now or these animals will go away.

Animals are here to save the day, and if they go all
the world will feel grey.

Let’s be nice to our pets, as well as all the rest.

Save the animals as they are under a massive
threat.

Tortoise Fun

by Jude aged 10

Tortoise chilling in the desert
On sand and leaves like a present
Really hot places are where they can be
The rainforest is a place they should be
Off sand on its back having a little snack
In water was not such fun, it felt like it was cracked
So much water, oh no no
Easy peesy log climbing, I wish I could stay
it was such a fun day but he needed to go away.

A dragon is big
or a dragon is small
but most of all
he breathes fire
and Raaaaaaaaaaar!!!

In My Mind…

RUNNER UP

In my mind, the world keeps spinning,
as I rock up and down.
The water crashes, the waves are splashing,
the fishermen stand on their boats and frown.

There are no catches at sea,
we are, for now, completely free.
However, there are dangers, horrendous and mad.
There is litter in the ocean, it makes us sad.
We huddle in the middle of the vast great ocean,
we daren’t move, we make no motion.
We can’t give them any notion, that we are here.
So you see now, in our blue, watery world,
us fish have ups and downs like you.
Don’t make us sadder, pick up some pieces of litter, just a few…

How to Smuggle a Yak

by Alyssa Theofanidis aged 12

WINNER

Don’t let anyone see him.
He should be hidden behind you when people walk in front of you.
When they are behind, Yak should be next to your stomach.
Hold him against your side as you walk past the secretary’s desk.
Past the Dean and past the lady with pretty hair
that answers the phone and gives you band-aids.

Don’t let your Yak get wet.
it’s barely drizzling outside, still enough to make him upset.
Tuck him under your sweater.
When you reach the tent on the other side of the parking lot,
take Yak out so he can see the grayish sky
and murky puddles on the sidewalk.

Remember step one.
Place Yak in your bag so he isn’t spotted.
Cover his ears so he doesn’t have to hear
the high-pitched ringing of your hand bells.
You can’t cover your own,
but at least Yak doesn’t have to go deaf.

Do not suffocate your Yak.
Put him in your bag again,
but leave an opening for his head and arms.
Leave him in the empty room when you go outside
to eat your brown rice and broccoli.
Make sure he doesn’t get too lonely.

Give your Yak a friend.
Crayons are a chatty option.

Demand they do not touch your Yak.
They will thrash him around the room
and put him in a dark cabinet
with construction paper and rotting glue sticks.
The white kind that’s too sticky and mushy,
but doesn’t come close to keeping science notes in your journal.

Be kind to your Yak.
He will come in handy when he sits at the front of the classroom,
surveying them with each beady eye.
They like him now.

Angelic Soul

by Sariya aged 11

I struggled through the forest,
Okay, I will be honest,
I found a colossal creature in front of me,
I wish I went with my friends near the shore of the sea.

The creature came closer and closer,
Until a horrifying bear came and acted like a poser,
I looked at him in disgust and horror,
Feeling like this was torture.

But then I looked through its harmless soul,
As angelic as a rabbit stuck in a hole,
Its marble eyes stared at me and smiled,
It made me feel comfortable and feel as light as a flower’s child.

I ran my fingers down his furry, dark brown back,
As brown as a coca- cola attack,
His marble eyes stared at the scorching sun,
Glistening like a bright star in the galactic night sky.

Lion’s Mane Pride

As the undisputed king of the savannah rose up,
observing the flock of one-legged fuchsia birds,
nipping the swamp,
It was
the prowling
cluster of fur,
his dark noble shady eyes of the forehead that surrounded
those eyes were unmissable

You may sum up a deep fear however
shall you want to go near it
the terrorising threat of the shadow that haunts.

The Slug!

by Lucy Earp aged 13

The slug is slow and hated by many,
However, it means no harm so no need to be tricky.

It wants to be on the great outdoors,
But without the fear of being stepped on at all!

The grass is fresh and a cosy place,
For a small slug who should not have hate.

He’s quiet and shy,
And likes to hide,
So what is there to hate?

The Little Beast

by Riti Pamecha aged 11

Out of the shelter
Into the world
Ready for a good meal
With everyone

Maybe a frog, a lizard or some insects
Or even some fish
To get some energy
For my eight legs

Humans hate us
But scorpions love us
We have to fight all day everyday
We never stop fearing
Maybe someone will kill us and throw us away
Or someone will eat and munch us away

My Pet Dogs

by Brody aged 9

I have two dogs
whom I love the most
they are cute
and have the most hope

They are the best things ever
one is white as snow
and one black as the night with a hind of brown
They are lovely and cuddly
and come onto your lap
even though they have a bond
I love them more than my cat
