Buzz, the bees waken.
Gather nectar, make honey.
Why do the bees work?

The Night Wolf

0
by Swannya Hailey Herath aged 6

I wolf at the night
day time I will sleep
the night I will call my lion friend
a friend in me, play with me,
in the dark
almost when the morning comes
we enjoy sunrise
when it flowers bloom
we love to smell them
dew drops fall ,
we love to death them
me and my lion friend
live happily after ever

The Dog Over There

by Ninoshka aged 8

Hey little dog in the corner
Come over here
Mom, there is a little dog over there
Why is it homeless?
It is so sad,
that dog over there is hungry
let’s feed him some food
He is freezing
Here is a blanket
Here is a bed little doggy
You are so cute
One day you should help other people
or dogs
or any animals
Goodbye little doggy

Animals are the Future

WINNER

In every kind of dream I am a black wolf
careening through a web. I am the spider
who eats the wolf and inhabits the wolf’s body.
In another dream I marry the wolf and then
am very lonely. I seek my name and they name me
Lucky Dragon. I would love to tell you that all
of this has a certain ending but the most frightening
stories are the ones with no ending at all.
The path goes on and on. The road keeps forking,
splitting like an endless atom, splitting
like a lip, and the globe is on fire

Riding On My Guardian Lion

0
by Diya aged 8

Which animal should I ride on?
Gibbering monkeys?
No they will steal my keys.

Snorting horse?
No I have to teach them a course

Lowing cow?
No, they don’t surprise me and say wow

Roaring guardian lion!
Yes yes! A lion!
It will be friends with my chameleon

A Dog’s Guide on How to Not Give a Damn About the World

0
by Harshita Das aged 14

Dog is the centre of attention,
Effortlessly exuding his presence, without missing a beat
While lounging lazily under the sun
Snoring steadily on the afternoon streets

He is a master at taking criticisms in his stride
The honking of the cars doesn’t get him down
He doesn’t care; he’s just there for the ride
Metaphorically encouraging angry drivers to turn their frowns upside down

He sleeps on the concrete roads
Yet still the world moves for him,
He chills peacefully in his humblest abode
Not giving a damn

I’m a Loud Little Budgie

0
by Imogen Kelchure aged 8

I’m a loud little budgie
I can be rather funny
I speak at night like I’m having a fight
Sometimes I am black and white
You can see after midnight
I can be any colour
But I can’t talk like any other
I am louder and prouder
I’m a loud little budgie
And I am very funny

The Silver Hound Wolves

0
by A.H. aged 10

A bright full moon
looms overhead,
all is still,
all is quiet.
Until and ear splitting noise is to be heard,
it’s not a moo,
nor a quack,
nor a neigh.
Oh no!
It’s a blood-curling howl
a hair-raising howl
a howl that belongs to the silver hound wolves,
The silver hounds with shining fur
sleek and glittery
with tails held high
Tonight they hunt
they hunt for another spectacular animal
the golden dear
with skin worth a quintillion diamonds
and legs that can run as fast as the wind
What?
You didn’t know it existed?
Well, nobody believes it
because they don’t look hard enough
So next time you’re camping
or you’re in the woods
you might get a glimpse of gold
or maybe a glance of silver fur
then you might believe in anything

A Kangaroo’s Tail

0
by Thomas Byrne aged 9

Like the two flippers of a fish,
a kangaroo’s tail is a special thing;
like a fox’s nose,
or a bird’s left wing.

Like what you might find in a book,
a kangaroo’s tail is a long lost story;
one might say it lives up to its name,
or another might say it’s made of honey and glory.

As I wrap up our story here,
remember what I said and keep it in mind;
it could be quite important, yes it’s true,
because you never know what you might find!!!
