If a Penguin Could Fly

0
by Elsa Yule aged 9

If a penguin could fly
It would soar through the sky
And push through fluffy clouds
If a penguin could camouflage
It would eat prey in a second
If a penguin could walk
through the city like a real person
it would be the king of the animals
or the queen of the creatures
and would rule is all
But a penguin’s life can’t take these things
Like something is out of stock
But they can fly underwater
And camouflage in the waters
And make their nests on rocky shores
That’s what a penguin can do

The Parrot Prodigy

My parrot is polite
He can write
In the detail of a tiny mite
And swim like a human despite
The fact he’s only small and isn’t very tall
He can call on command
And can conduct a band
To play Beethoven’s symphony number nine
He could dine with a hound
And hold his knife and fork the right way round
He can juggle like a clown
And hang upside down
To London’s people uttermost delight
He will have a chat with a most noble knight
The headmaster says pets are not for school
Although it’s pretty cool
That Percy secretly attends every lesson so he’s no fool

My Gecko

Gecko, gecko on the log
I wonder what you’re thinking of?
Up so high in the sky,
It almost seems like you can fly!

You are such a sleepy boy,
You really do look like a toy.
You can truly jump so far
I think you are very bizarre.

You love playing in the sun,
You have a very cute run.
You climb up the wall to get a snack
You crouch and then attack!

I love you from the bottom of my heart
I promise we will never be apart!
You are my tiny scaly friend
And I’ll defend you till the end!

A Dog Called Herman

by George Watt aged 7

Herman our dog likes walking
In the woods,
Sniffing about,
Begging for cheese!
Digging like a badger,
Scratch
Pant
Woof, woof, woof!
At everyone,
Except me!

The Fox

How does the small fox,
Improve its bushy tail,
That drinks healthily on the Nile,
On every lustrous hail.

How evil he frowns,
When young fishes swim in,
And wants to,
With his sharp teeth pin.

Nature’s Friend

by Evie-Mai aged 8

I ran through the endless fields of Dartmoor,
And the smiling sun wrapped around me like a warm snuggly blanket.
The hot squelchy mud enveloped my black trainers,
While the wind tossed my hair from left to right.
I knew this was my happy place.
I knew I was nature’s Friend.

My Dog Buddy

My dog’s name is Buddy,
He likes to get muddy,
He’s like the Flash,
Cos he runs super fast.

My dog is so cute,
And he’s not a brute,
He’s like a cuddly bear,
So he’s not such a scare.

He loves to play,
He never runs away,
He’s my best friend,
Sorry but this poem has to end!

3 Goats 1 Troll

0
by Charlottei aged 10

After eating a field of daisies and grass
3 goats found a new grazing place
They crossed a river on a little red bridge
To find a troll with a hideous face

They knew it was wrong going on someone’s property
But these goats were selfish and proud
They moved right on to the grass near the troll
Knowing trespassing was not allowed

The troll was sleeping under his bridge
As the 3 goats trotted past his side
When the troll woke up they were distressed and scared
So they ran to a bush to hide

The troll took a sip of water from the river nearby
Then walked back to his bridge to sleep
Happy and casual the goats grazed some more
Making sure they made not a peep

They came back the next day
They thought the troll was away
But he was awake and under his bridge
They laughed with glee
They were so warm happy
But the troll’s heart was cold like a fridge

The goats trotted onto the little red bridge
Trot trot trotting – so loud
The troll was upset, ate the 3 goats
That taught them not to be proud

Cat in the Night

Black as:
The night,
so dark;
No light;
Dusk coming to the sky.

Like a showered frog,
green and shining
eyes
look all around, off she goes!

Paws gentle and scratching
leave prints in fresh snow.
