This is War

0
by Kate Sullivan aged 11

My blood is no longer with me,
My heart has poured out the rest,
Open wounds, throbbing out of my chest.
The end is yet to be seen,
Bullets shooting past, wiping my sight clean,
This is a war, this is a storm,
Keeping my sanity warm,
On the outside lies two wings,
Ready to sprout as my conscience sings,
“Fight, fight, you know you can,”

Families gather, kneeling on the ground,
Praying for peace and mercy,
As the Devil laughs, angels bound.
The leftovers of men,
The burnt planes, sitting in the den,
My soul rises as I reach out,
Giving my hand to heaven, pulling me about.

Bro Goes Bye Bye

0
by Joseph Michael Wisher aged 9

Today my brother got shot,
He was blasted on the dot,
Death is what he got.

A crack in my heart opened wide,
Every family member cried.

Plotting revenge on the man who pulled the trigger,
My hunger for murder is getting bigger and bigger.

I’m going to invade their base,
I’m going to destroy the enemy race.

Hopefully I’m going to live ’til the last battle,
I’ll round up the enemies like they were a herd of cattle.

This poem will not be the last thing I write,
For I have more wars to fight.

What Are We Fighting For?

0
by Mason McConnell aged 8

We fight for honour,
We fight for freedom,
We fight for peace,
What more can we offer?

We fight for our family,
We fight for our country,
We fight for our children’s future,
Can we do any more?

Why do we fight?
I have no idea.
Why every once in a while does a trigger have to be pulled?
Why is there war?

Competition Runner Up. No prize I’m afraid. But well done!

War

The war is time to fight
The war is for our country
We have to fight and fight

Bang Bang Bang Bang!
Fight Fight Fight Fight!
Win Win Win Win!

Pistols shooting
Bombs exploding
Tanks driving
When is the war going to end?

War

War is great
War is wonderful
War is different
War is something good
War is danger
War is home
War is nothing to worry about
So if you go to war and fight
You will know what it is about
So you remember don’t forget
This is what it’s all about.

They fight with all their might
Right on into the night
One team wins, one team lose
So there’s always going to be some boos

The cold war was hot
The cold war meant we were sleeping a lot
The cold war was so easy…
Probably because it was cancelled

They all said bye,
Maybe for the last time.
They travelled through slime
And a underground mine .
They fight and then go home,
Even if they’re just bones

War is here,
The noise, the noise, you can here the noise,
The bombs explode everywere,
My heart is pounding,
The battle is horrible,
Cannons going off,
Every person running in the street,
The ground is curvy.

War is a bore
And everybody snores
The soldiers go to the store
To get some more.
They fight and fight
Right into the night
Then in the morning they win
And they throw the other team in the bin
