The Whale in Space

by Elsa Yule aged 10

A whale in space
Whale and space
Keep up the pace!
They belong together
A whale can fly forever
It will eat the stars like shrimps
But don’t worry, the people will think it’s a blimp
A blimp of blue just like the ever-growing sea
A tail shaped as two leaves
Two leaves with the colours of the morning sky
It’s not an ordinary thing
The astronauts will think as they wave goodbye
To the whale plummeting from the distant blackness of space
A sapphire asteroid
Splashing Into the sea

Cat Who Lost his Brother

by Mariam aged 7

There was a cat who lost his brother
in a huge town
and in the town
there was a kidnapper
who wanted to kidnap his brother
They took him to his school
and told them that he is never coming back
ever again
but the teacher grabbed him
and they lived happily ever after

My Cracking Christmas

My Cracking Christmas

It’s Christmas morning and the day is dawning.

As I creep down the stairs I feel magic in the air.

I am cheeky and sneaky as I open the door, to see my presents laying on the floor.

The Christmas tree lights are glimmering and bright, as the cat jumps out and gives me a fright.

My presents look wonderful and big this year, I wonder if one of them could be a reindeer.

I think I can smell Brussel sprouts, at Christmas Brussel sprouts are all about.

Crack! bang! goes the Christmas cracker, as the toy falls to the floor with a clatter.

Christmas Day is now at an end, as I snuggle up with my darling reindeer friend.

Christmas Morning

by Poorvi Girish aged 9

I creep downstairs at 2am

to count my presents,

then go to bed.

As I pick up each one,

To feel its weight,

I wonder if it’s relevant.

Did people like the thought of us,

Huddled together on Christmas Day?

Then opening each gift and book,

See the joy and laughter on each look.

Did someone invent the tradition,

Of Christmas and gifts collision?

Or was it a parental excuse

To see the children’s faces and looks,

When they open each gift and book?

Christmas Joy

by Summer Bruntlett aged 8

Christmas is a time for joy
For every girl and every boy.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Gifts that kids will admire.

With Turkey, tinsel and all the trimmings
Board games are all about the winning.

Singing Christmas songs all day long
Friends and family, a time to get along.

So merry Christmas from my house to yours
Hang your wreaths upon your doors for the season of joy is upon us.

Whale Song

Whales are singing, and dancing too
Hear the song that fills the sea with music
A whale’s song fills your heart with glee
Lovely whales sing a tune not like any other
Everybody dances to the whale’s song

At Christmas I Wonder

0
by Natalie Zariwny

Sometimes I sit down and wonder where we may be,

If you had decided to stay, would we have a tree?

Sometimes I wonder if you were still here,

Would we be Christmas shopping, laughing and full of cheer?

Sometimes I sit down and wonder, if you were sleeping down the hall,

Would I feel safer and excited as them all?

Sometimes I wonder, if you had chosen me,

Would I be happier, could Christmas be filled with glee?

Cause right now the music isn’t so bright in the air,

I don’t wanna sing, and honestly I don’t really care,

Cause the one thing I want for Christmas will not come to be,

Cause this year, you will be no where I can see.

Christmas Time

0
by Emrit aged 9

Christmas time is a time to be together,
and to give presents to who you love.
Make people smile everyday,
but last of all make people smile.

Christmas is for enjoying,
be sure not to peek into presents.
Open presents on Christmas,
And make it fun.

When Santa Knocks on Your Doorstep!

3
by Apoorva Vishwanath aged 11

Snow dumped, outside in the street,

It is time to get ready for a treat,

Where are your premonitions?

All ready are the decorations!

Keep your home, tidy and neat

Santa’s gonna get you a gift and a sweet!

Whatever mum makes – pies or waffle

Remember, it is not going to be a trifle.

The children around, the way they waggle,

A day before, you can see them jabber.

Christmas is an ecstasy,

Bask in this opportunity.

There is not a way anyone can get ill-fated,

And this poem’s a way Christmas is promulgated
