Once Upon a Time…

Once upon a time
There was a monster made out of slime
‘So what?!’ said the princess,
‘I’m not very fearless!’
And so she went out to save
A prince named Dave…

Once upon a time
There was a monster made out of slime
‘Oh no!’ said the prince
‘I haven’t finished my mince!’

Once upon a time
There was a monster made out of slime
‘Yes, I’m here!’ said the princess
‘Let’s get him out of sickness’

Once upon a time
There was a monster made out of slime
When the princess had arrived there
She recognised an evil stare…

Once upon a time
There was a monster made out of slime
The prince had woken up
Then the monster said, ‘Wassup?’
The princess screamed,
When the monster began to lean

‘Sorry!’ said the monster
‘But I guess I have to eat ya!’

While at a bank, collecting some cash

My eyes stumbled upon a moustache

I averted them in them in haste

For my personal taste

I think that it was rather too brash

States Of Matter

2
by Veda Dharwar aged 10

Everything, everything is made of matter,
Even the glass that your sister’s about to shatter.

Clear water, wafting air and bulk heavyweight masses,
All separated into three groups, solids, liquids, gases.

Solids, solids with particles tightly packed together,
An example of solids are scented bunches of heather.

Liquids have slightly weaker atom bonds,
An example of liquids is water in a pond.

And finally, the airy ones, floating through the air
the gases, with atoms scattered everywhere.

Know that you are knowledgeable of states of matter,
Why not ask your science teacher if your grades might get better.

In Minecraft the blocks are square
and they’re also pixelated
I was doing the first thing you do once you start a world
I started cutting down wood
but then the trees came alive and started chasing me
I think they were haunted but at the time
all I could do is scream
They were chasing me
and I need some food
so i killed some pigs and cows
then they started chasing me
also they grew fangs and diamond armour
they also had white eyes so did the trees
then I thought wait, herobrine has white eyes
So i said Herobrine where are you?
Why do you care Notch
and that’s how me and herobrine became enemies

You’re Not Ugly

2
by Daniela Valeviciute aged 11

It doesn’t make sense to call ourselves ugly,
because we don’t really see ourselves.
We don’t watch ourselves sleeping in bed,
curled up and silent with chests rising and falling
with our own rhythm.
We don’t see ourselves reading a book,
eyes fluttering and glowing
You don’t see yourself looking at someone with love and care
and happiness is leaking out of you.
You would know exactly how bright and beautiful you are
if you saw yourself in the moments where you’re truly yourself.

Cat and Mouse

The cat in the hat was hungry
The cat liked eating
The mouse looked at the cat
The cat looked at the mouse
The mouse was running.
The cat was tired.
The mouse was the winner

Refurbishing a Centipede’s Home

1
by Erin Byrne aged 10

Well for starters,
finding the right sized bed
is often tricky.
You need leg room
and for a centipede,
that means lots of space.
I don’t mean to
be stereotypical,
but an awful lot
of my customers
have been very fussy
when it comes to picking
wallpaper.
It’s always either
too bright,
or too dark,
or too much
like Spider’s house.
Storage is another problem.
Shoes especially.
They’ve got so many of them you see,
but when you’ve found
the right rack,
you just know.
Finally, the flooring,
laminate is not
the best idea
for customers
with lots of legs,
neither is marble
for a matter of fact.
The perfect solution
is carpet,
a nice calm
and serene
colour preferably.
Just so they don’t feel rushed.
To top it off
you could always add
in that touch
of luxury,
a personalised foot spa,
made to fit.

I know a boy worm,
He loves to play in the mud,
Standing straight and firm.
