Time For a Holiday

by Clementine Lampkin Berry aged 10

The holiday has started
we’re going somewhere
sunny. I play with my bunny.
The drive is so long so we sing a song.
We get out and have some fun.
The sand is soft and I’m on the loft .
We throw the ball but we don’t fall .
The holiday has started, let’s have some fun

Hurray!

We Are Going on Summer Holiday

Time to put the inky pens away,
mum doesn’t shout at me this way,

Time to lock up the deadly sums,
now I can stop stressing about equations.

We are going on summer holiday!

Jump in the pool where it’s cool,
feel the breeze on your knees

We are going on summer holiday!

Fish and chips here I come,
I just wish no seagulls would come.

We are going on summer holiday!

but now I’m everyone’s gone and I’m alone
I feel quite glum so I’m going home

Moxon’s Summer Holiday

1
by Soli Moxon aged 11

Let the Summer Holidays begin,
So off we go to Benin,
To the airport, to the plane,
Away we go to the state of Maine,

From Italy to Pakistan,
Then Peru and Kyrgyzstan,
The Summer Holidays are great,
Especially with your mates,

The best part of the holiday,
Was when I was in the Bay of Biscay,
Where I ate a horse that went neigh,
During my Summer Holiday,

Now It’s time to kiss the holidays goodbye,
Where we will all cry,
And return to the forced labour camp AKA School,
Where life is not so cool,

The Holidays are Here

0
by Isabel Louise Harris aged 10

We’ve left Norton,
The holidays are near,
I’m as happy as a clown,
The holidays are here

The sun is shining,
The sky is clear,
We’re making sand castles,
The holidays are here

Huge rollercoasters,
Facing my fear,
Zip up my school bag,
The holidays are here

I feel like a rocket,
Devon is near,
Can’t wait to see my cousins,
The holidays are here

The sun is shining,
The sky is clear,
We’re making sand castles,
The holidays are here

I can taste the ice-cream,
I’m meeting my friend Tia,
No more Mr School Books,
The holidays are here

The sun is shining,
The sky is clear,
We’re making sand castles,
The holidays are here

Brendan’s Summer Holidays

Hurry home, school is over, relaxation here we come !
Lying on the sofa eating loads of sweets, life is sweet.
Time for food and holiday fun, come on sun, time for ice cream
Preparing for holidays in the sun, loads of time to eat and eat

Relaxing in the hot sun swimming pool here we come
Splashing in the waterslide, could holidays get any better?
School we have forgotten, drinks and fun here we come
Making new friends in the pool, getting wetter and wetter

Sleeping in the comfy beds, no need to set the alarm
Eating loads of food, don’t need to be clean
School is boring, but now we’ve all escaped
No more work, games first, school is mean

Exploring new things and climbing tall trees
Riding on fun scooters, very far and very fast
Playing in the bowling alley, falling over scraping knees
Oh how I wish the holidays would last

An Upside Down Holiday

0
by Emily Humphris aged 11

I am going on a
Summer Holiday.
School is over,
“Hip hip hurray!”

I’m doing a handstand,
I’m upside down.
Everything is
THE WRONG WAY ROUND!

The beach ball is square,
The sea is red.
Instead of a camp chair,
I’ve got my bed.

The sun is green,
the sky is brown.
My brother drops his ice-cream,
But he doesn’t frown!

I’m holding my ice-cream,
Licking the cone.
Everything’s so weird,
And I’m all alone.

I’m back on my feet,
Everyone has returned,
They’re in their swimming costumes,
With sun-burns.

I’m on a,
Summer Holiday,
School is over,
“Hip hip hurray!”

time for fun
time for sport
time for gaming
time for thought
we’re on summer holiday

new adventures to be seen
try to be on time
lining up, do not lean
time to see my mates

bang! wallop!
trying to find my old maths books
looking at my old looks
we’re on summer holiday.

School is over
Hip hip hurray!
Time for a
Summer holiday!

Sunshine, flip flops
The beautiful sea
Deck chairs, swimming
I’m as happy as could be!

Handstands, cartwheels
Diving in the pool!
Crabbing, SPLASH!
Goodbye school!

Postcards, starfish
Licking ice-cream
Theme parks, rollercoasters
We all scream!

BBQ’s, seashells
Sand between my toes
Buckets, spades
Water fight with the hose!

School is back,
No hip hip hurray
Our next holiday’s in
365 days!

Sloppy Ploppy Sea Monster

0
by Oli Roberts aged 10

Would you like to meet my mate?
He is really really neat
He sits in the sea day with his sloppy poppy feet
My mate’s the sloppy sea monster
Sitting in the sea
Oh I love it – he is just like me
He is like a sloppy porridge bobbing in the sea
And when he falls over the sharks will eat him whole.
Sorry sloppy sea monster
We are going in a wiz
My dad just remembered
He had to do a quiz

If I Were…

If I were a clown I would say hello
If I were a clown I would jump up and down
If I were a clown I would smile all day
If I were a clown I’d say goodbye,

If I were a house I’d keep you safe
If I were a house I’d keep you warm
If I were a house I’d let you sleep in peace
If I were a house I’d say goodbye when you moved away,

If I were a mouse I would creep in your house
If I were a mouse I would peep all day
If I were a mouse I would eat all your food
If I were a mouse I would say hello from me to you,

If I were a chocolate bar I would wait in your store
If I were a chocolate bar you’d buy me to eat
If I were a chocolate bar I would pray you won’t eat me
If I were a chocolate bar I’d say, Oh well, I am in your tum now,
