My New Family Member

by Risha Tanwar aged 8

June was very special for me
because something very special happened,
a new family member of mine was born!
It was a little boy, cute and small,
compared to him I looked so tall!
Now it has nearly been a year
and I can’t wait what I will hear!
Will he put a smile on his face,
will he say his first word,
I don’t know just wait and see!

Home and Hollow

0
by Jordan Ray aged 17

The lanterns are swinging, are jangling away
held in loose unison with twine
and a structure provided by worn wooden planks.
The grass lining the beach shimmers and crunches, bleached and frayed
whispering politely, enveloping the divine
and crashing silver in bellowing ranks.
The water, the strict formation dictated by unspoken orders
glides in conviction
and holds stride for minimal gain.
The wind was holding, defending the borders
choking down the sounds of the unrest, providing constriction
never conceding to strain.
Nostrils burned and skin chilled from the offensive procession
sweaters stained from exertion
and awed silence was maintained.

School Disco

by Elle aged 11

This year we had a disco
I dressed the best
All my friends were there
I danced better than the rest

We had DJ Worm
He sang a song
He made us laugh
And he danced along

All the teachers danced
It was so funny
Especially when
They did Chubby Bunny

We had a drink
Mine was mango
I loved it when
We did the tango

Now it was time to go
We said thank you and bye
To our special guest
Who really tried

When We Found You

0
by Angela aged 15

We saw you and you saw us.
You sat in a stone cold cage –
Shaking and trembling; with big, brown eyes
Gazing at us giants who ogled at you
Like you were an extinct creature or a new species.
Everyone else was mewling and cooing, except you –
You just sat and stared, waiting to be freed
From your prison where you lived 24/7.
We asked to play with you, and was escorted
Into a tiny closet space where you were plopped in.
You greeted us with a wag of your tail
And we rubbed your stomach then brought you back –
To that stone cold cage where you slept.
Two weeks later we come back and you’re still there –
Sitting in your prison, slightly bigger.
We play with you again and decide.
We want you as our pet; as our dog;
As our lovable, cuddly puppy.
So we take you away from that cruel place.
And now you’re ours.

Wedding Day

1
by Mia Jessica Dade aged 10

There she is in that beautiful, white, crisp dress,
Everyone’s nervous and bride and groom stress.
Everyone’s ready,
Got to go steady,
It’s going to be the best wedding day.

The car’s here,
True love is near.
Don’t shed a tear,
Don’t fear,
It’s going to be the best wedding day.

Now there’s no doubts,
Because they have both said their vows.
At each other they glance,
And they’re ready to dance,
It’s going to be the best wedding day.

When the sun falls,
And the morning calls.
At the end of the day,
Everyone says:
It’s been the best wedding day.

My Special Moment

by Anna Ivory aged 11

Getting a dog was the best,
She is loving and caring,
She wouldn’t harm a fly,
Everyone loves her so,
Even when she is being a monkey.
I love my dog with all my heart,
So that’s why this was my special day.

A New Family Member

by Teagan Jones aged 10

The day began
When Jenson was in the pram
Full of joy
It was a baby boy
With stunning blue eyes
A wide joy full smile
I was glad to have another brother
I love him more than words can say
He always wants me to come and play

Historic Landing

0
by Amanda Huang aged 12

A rocket,
small but powerful,
the first step on the moon for
mankind.
The ship descended to the moon,
landing with a final “ker-plunk”.
It was then that the door opened,
a foot,
the foot of an astronaut
stepped out,
and the first step on the moon
was made.
History,
in those fragile, precious seconds,
had been created.

My Autumn

by Tegan Joy Chalkley aged 10

As the leaves rustle in the trees
I was quite pleased
In my autumn

As I sip my hot coco
my hamster goes loco
All in my autumn

As I sit by the fire
and start to admire
the programs on TV
All in my autumn

Sports Day At School

0
by Deepak aged 11

It was the best day at school that day,
All I could do was just play.
We were divided into two groups,
Like there were many troops.
We laughed, we sang, and we danced,
and many people just glanced.
After we were so tired,
We were like famous people just retired,
We went to the amazing canteen,
After we were very clean.
We ate lots of food,
While we were in a good mood.
We enjoyed ourselves,
With ears big as elves.
As we tied our shoe laces
We said goodbye with happy faces,
