Candle Light

0
by Sophie Hill Shawe aged 12

My little light lit up the sky
I walked down the path
I tripped on a stone

My candle fell to the ground
It went up in flames
I watched it burn,
sparks flying above my head

I awoke realised it was a dream
And I was safe in bed

A Battle Cry

0
by Sapphire Hollis aged 15

Blown away by the dawn and dust,
Lay the soldiers unable to adjust.
Across the field in the midnight moon,
This war will be over soon.

The cannons cry into the starless sky,
I begin to cower and say goodbye
To those I’ve hurt, wounded or failed,
To Heaven I have sailed.

From above my head starts to pound,
The drumming of the cannons replace the sound
Of the whimpering men – injured and frail
Because of the smoke they’ve inhaled.

All I wanted was to find inner peace,
I guess now, it was a beautiful release.
Thousands of men were left to die,
The angel me can’t help but cry.

I quietly weep as my soul slips away,
Sadly not everything is here to stay.
At some point everything will end,
But it’s okay, a new start is just around the bend.

My Night Light

0
by Megan H aged 11

When I was young
I had a Night Light
It kept my room light
Every single night

I needed it
I was scared of the dark
One day I slept without it
And my mum took me to the park

Now I’m older
I don’t need that light
But I still kept it
Because one day I might

Every time I think
About my little Night Light
It reminds me that everywhere
There is always some light

Our Sun

by Megan Hall aged 11

The sun is there for us
When we’re sad
Or when we’re happy

The sun
Oh, the glorious sun
Always shining for us

Sometimes the clouds block out the sun
We still know it’s there
Thank you to our sun

It gives us light
When we need it most
Oh, thank goodness for the sun

My Little Light Shining

0
by Samuel Ededjo aged 10

When I’m in a place that’s dark
I feel like I’m gonna bark
But I could yelp
So I can get my little light to help

My little light is bright
Everywhere I go in the sight
It’s my really special friend
and the friendship will never end

Like a horse running so free
It’s really like me
Look how my little light is helping me see
Who I can really be

Look how I am
Never looking so glam
He will always be with me
From north south west and east!

This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine!

Why is Light so Bright?

0
by Libby Cashmore aged 10

Why is light so bright?
Why is it from the gleaming sun?
At night, the light creates scary shadows,
why does that give you a fright?
Why does it blind you on the road?
Why is it that its beams are so glamorously gold?
Still, the light is better than the dark, don’t you think?

Starlight

Starlight
shining bright
throughout the night,
glittering against the indigo sky,
a kite of hope and
warming light.
the starlight
will protect me
against the forbidding night.

Starlight

Shining bright,
Through the galaxy
I see a light
A star’s light
Lovely as can be
Full of joy
The happiness it has
Makes me feel so warm inside
My starlight.
