I Wish

0
by Nudrat F. aged 12

Sometimes, I wish to be a bird
And fly high in the sky.
Perhaps a lovely blue jay
Fluttering and chirping all day,
Or maybe a peacock
Beautifully dancing on high mountain rock.

Maybe even a wild pigeon
My life will never be in a dungeon,
Or else a lovely cuckoo
Everyone will say I’m pretty too.

But the only bird I can be
Is the happy little one you see in me.

Messages Are All Around

1
by Sophie Chebib aged 9

Love letters, adorned with kisses
Angry bills about rent misses

Poems from my nanny whose loyalty will never end
Text alerts, annoyingly, I wonder why they send

A hundred emails all yelling at me to get a job
Chatting, in the street, to a random guy named Bob

Messages, with dedications
Messages on medications

Slowly, quickly they spread around
Rumours, gossip by text or sound
Put in a bottle to be found
Messages are all around.

First of all is crazy Maisie
you are very crazy and funny
a great friend and always nice
you are sometimes a bit silly but you are amazing
I hope you reach your singer dream

Second up is my friend-twin Alexa
you are funny and really kind
we are like each other a lot
I hope you grow up to be amazing

Third up is quiet but crazy Jenna
you are shy at times but crazy at other times
you are nice and very beautiful
I hope you still remember me

Last but not least is gymnastics maniac Molly
you are also like me a lot as we both like to flip
you are an amazing friend even though I just met you
I hope you achieve you dreams

All of my friends are different but we all get along well
because everyone is unique

Gunshot

1
by Brooke Dawson aged 10

A loud bang breaks the silence.
The animals scatter everywhere
And hide very quietly
Before the hunter comes.

The bunnies in the bushes
The birds up above
The reign of terror fills the sky
As a hunter passes by.

Walking through the woodland
Another gunshot sounds
An unforgettable loss for the animals
But not for human kind.

The deer sharpen their antlers
The foxes gnash their teeth
The wasp gets his stinger ready
The animals get ready for war.

Another man passes by
A gun at his chest
Another blast and no war
Just another animal lying dead

To My Beloved Daughter!

This is the time
To let it all out
You are a woman
You are strong
You are adventurous
You can go places
Do not let anything stop you!

This is the time
To let you know
You are a woman
You are brave
Like a lion, king of the jungle
You can be a leader
Do not let them tell you otherwise!

Now is the time
To let it all out
You are a woman
You are assertive
You can make crucial decisions
Let your voice be heard
stand up for what is right
Do not let anything stop you!

Now is the time
To let you know
You are a woman
You are human too
Soar like an eagle,
Roar like a lion
You are important
Do not let them tell you otherwise!

Mr Clown

Hello Mr Clown
I heard about your frown
I know how to cure it
You have to eat snails
And lots of bushy tails
Rotten cheese
You should not squeeze
And lemon lime
You have to eat all the time
Stinky socks in lots of flocks
Say goodbye to your frown
Mr Clown

Hey Z.
We haven’t spoken in too long.
Life’s boring without you.
I miss you so much.
Do you miss me?
I hope you do, but I hope you’re moving on.
I just wanted you to know, I can’t wait to see you again.
Soon, I hope.
Well, that’s all I have to say.
For now.
I’ll be in contact soon. I promise.
Megs xx

For All The Friends I Left Behind

0
by Megan Hall aged 12

I struggled to find a way to say this
That really did my message justice
I sit in my room every day
And try to cry the pain away
But every day I miss you more
I wish it could be like before
I guess what I am trying to say
Is that when I start to cry today
I’ll be thinking only of you
And I hope you’ll think about me too
I hope we’ll be best friends forever
Because from a million pieces, you put me back together
You nurtured, saved, loved and forgave me
You rebuilt me stronger and then set me free
There were so many things I wanted to say
I wish we could have had one more day
Now everything you’ve taught me has helped me let go
But I think of you every day and I wanted you to know

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I know you walk in pain sometimes
But I’ll still help you
I know nobody helps you that much
I will still be with you
All the way through.

You don’t have to get up
Just relax
I’ll still be with you
I’m not going to complain
I’m still going to care for you.
