The Little Squirrel

3
by Medhaswi Kundu aged 9

Superbly climbing up the tallest trees,
Quietly gathering nuts
Unassisted, you hide your winter meals
In the forest, your place, your home.
Royal is your bushy tail,
Rain or sun, you make your way
Enraptured, I stare at you without fail
Little squirrel, how are you?

Loop

1
by Sarah aged 12

tears flow down my face,
my breath is heavy as my feet make haste.
my head pounds,
my feet always hit the ground.
plop, plop, plop,
I just want them to stop, stop stop,
tears come down like a river.
I stop my mouth from making that quiver,
I stiffen my upper lip.
before the bullies make another quip,
I stop and turn my back to face my haters.
to face the fakers,
to stop doing nothing and be a maker.
to be a doer,
to arise to my challenges even the bullies.
because I understand the challenges I face fully.

The Small Panda

0
by Zoya Samaha aged 8

Once upon a time, there was a family of pandas
and they lived in a large tree.
One night, all the pandas were taking a nap
except for the little panda,
she was the only one who was not sleeping.
So she decided to investigate the jungle.
The next day, her mum called her down
but nobody answered.
So her mum tried again
but still, nobody answered.
Therefore her mum decided to go upstairs
and look where she was gone.
To her surprise,
she found the little panda’s room empty.
Alarmed the mum cried.
And then with no doubt,
her mum sprinted to go find the small panda.

Halloween

Skeletons are prowling
So is the occasional ghost
You might find a werewolf howling
And a zombie or two, at most!

You’ll be shaken to the bones
Seeing the evil witch’s spell
Listening to her moans
Can send everybody to hell!

Visions of a Cerberus, ready to bite
Or a Egyptian Mummy chasing you
Can stir up a great fright
And make you runaway too!

Although sweets and cakes are part of it,
It’s a scary time of year
The day can make you have a fit
It’s a time that you’re meant to fear!

Zat the Total Brat

by Daneen Basit aged 9

My cat’s name is Zat; she eats all the rats.
She’s so fat she can’t fit in her hat.
She sits on her favorite mat; she loves pats.
She chats with the bat, and she sat on my doormat.
She’s a total brat.

Spring

by Medhaswi Kundu aged 9

Flowers blooming everywhere
A sweet scent hangs in the air

The wind whistles in the peaceful trees
Clouds are tossed upon the shimmering seas

Lambs and calves are finally born
And they lie on the dew-dropped lawn

Spring is a season when the sun rises high
You take it all in and your spirits fly.

Summer

The sun is now hotter than ever
Will it be cold, why of course, NEVER!

Your summer clothes will keep you cool
All you wish for is a dip in a pool

Summer is a season where you can have picnics galore
You will just want more and more!

The blades of grass tickle my feet
As you try and tolerate the unbearable heat

Autumn

All the trees are red and gold
Some are young and some are old

Leaves turn crunchy and very dry
All the birds swiftly fly

Flowers start wilting, all of them do
And suddenly the sky turns blindingly blue

Autumn is a season when you want to get cosy
And you look at the leaves which are ever so rosy.

Winter

Snow is scattered upon the ground
Some is piled in a huge mound

All the trees have shed their leaves
And we shiver as we roll down our sleeves

Snowflakes rest upon your nose
You miss the sound of chirping crows

Winter is a season where you long to be warm
It’s a time when snowmen take their form.

Mickey Mouse
Is great
He is not
Cat bait

He and Minnie
Are The Perfect pair
If Mickey smiles
She wouldn’t glare
