Willian breaking ankles
Overmars magic on the wing
Ronaldo’s shots go zing!
Lord Pele was great.
Dancing a goal celebration

Carlos scored a free kick
Under the wall goes the ball
Ping!

Will You Live to See the Sun?

0
by Mayuri Padayachi, Beatrice Prinsen and Roisin Mckeogh aged 11 and 12

Is war a game?
Is it really that much fun?
Will it give you any fame?
Will you live to see the sun?
Will war decide your fate?
Are you prepared to use your gun?
Will you end up as bait?
Or will you live to see the sun?

You thought it was a game
You thought it was a joke
They really did trick you
You shouldn’t believe Jessie Pope.
No you should not be fooled by Brooke
Or to this day you’ll be seen as a crook

Your friends have passed
Your heart’s been smashed
But is your hope still everlasting?
The war is never ending
You’re still contending
Will you live to see the sun?

So was it a game?
So was it that much fun?
Did it give you any fame?
Did you live to see the sun ?
Did war decide your fate?
Were you prepared to use your gun?
Did you end up as bait?
Did you live to see the sun?

War

by Sami al Sakar George aged 11

In the battlefield, where soldiers risk their live
The guns roar their deadly song,
The sound of death fills my ears
And soldiers march, their life not long

The generals plan their strategic move.
The soldiers screaming with fear and fright,
Soldiers fight with nothing to lose,
As I watch people guttering, choking, screaming .

People fighting in their last life.
Soldiers come and soldiers go,
People waiting to see their wife

No Man’s Land

by Monty Phillips and Elliott Davison aged 11 and 12

In fields of battle, where countries fight and bleed
Where guns roar and the captured plead
A tale of war, a story to be told
Of bravery and horror, of honor untold

Their uniforms stained with mud and blood
Their voices hurt from shouting loud across the trench
They charge into the danger, their fists clench.
For they know that victory is worth the cost
All soldiers worried and lost

The sudden silence,
The war suddenly lifeless,
The soldiers fatigued and tired,
They cannot risk a shot misfired.

War is Not for the Weak

by Lily Cuddihy, Elin Harper, Alice Christipher aged 11/12

War is not for the weak

War is always catastrophic,
Not for the weak
But for the logic.

War is not a game of hide and seek.
It’s a life or death situation not for the weak.

War always has conflict,
Trust me, you don’t want to go…

War is not for the weak!

Heights

by Claire Chi aged 8

Those spaces lifting of so high,
People looking from above to see the endless space below,
“Oh my, the space so high,” they say.

The scary depths of the unknown,
If you fall, you die.
You can see that we are dwarfed
by the darkness of heights below and the easily loss of life.

We wonder why the monsters of the darkness
are so blood thirsty for the flesh of man.

The endless fall of heights are always frightening to me and my family.
No matter looking down from high mountains,
Or looking from endless flowing water from the infinity pools,
Heights always will haunt the world and my family.

Life of Nature

As the wind flew, my body shook
Brrr, brrr, brrr
Trees, leaves falling on the floor
Rustle, rustle, rustle,
Birds chirping with a happy sound
Chirp, chirp, chirp
All of a sudden THUNDER!!!!!
Clash, clash, clash
Birds flying with a sad sound
Chimp, chimp, chimp
I quickly went into a shelter to be safe of the thunder
I could hear the thunder going
Clash, clash, clash

Day 2, my first day of school
I could hear the talking and singing
La, bla ,bla
When I went to my class I could hear
muttering and whispering
My teacher said hello in a polite way
All of my classmates said hello too
And I had the best day ever
in my new school
And every day

In school there are people who are cool,
In school there are geniuses,
In school there is a pool,
In school there is Mrs,
In school there is Sir,
In school there is paper,
In school there is the sun,
and there is always so much fun!

Why War?

0
by Samridh Kundu and Abdullah Aneel aged 11 and 12

Roar roar, I am hungry for more,
I soar and adore running through the battlefield of war
We were told we could explore, but we were kicked and nicked
But not to worry, we explore more about the country Ecuador

The deathly silence of war is not nice, it was called a game,
But how do you know, all you do is blame
War is not a joke, it is not good and it’s brutal
War is really deadly and futile

Why do we go to war?
Do we really think it’s a game?
War is atrocious and is used to lure young soldiers
But don’t get fooled, if you mess up, you will have a permanent sign of shame.
