by Miya Roberts aged 10

During the day the
Sun will set, but once again
It shall and will rise.

The sun may sink down
Beneath the clouds but it
Will rise once again

Sandwich

Take two breads and open them now
Then spread peanut butter
Get jam and put it on the bread
And it will be tasty if it’s red
Squeeze the bread together
Eat it outside in good weather

Life of a Rock

1
by Jordan aged 9

A life of a rock, not pleasing as it can be.
I slept like a rock, who is going to set me free?
I was part of the great canyon, at the age of three.
If you find a rock, and yes, that’s me.

A life of a rock, I am not a meme.
I slept like a rock, attempt three.
I took a disguise, under a tree.
If you see me, I will flee.

A life of a rock, can’t drink tea.
I slept like a rock, I need coffee.
I became a pet, a pet of a flea.
I escaped the flea, oof! Taxing fees!

A life of a rock, all say “Yippee!”
I slept like a rock, no bad dreams.
The tree a took on a disguise, is now covered in green.
I went on vacation, taking a bee.

A Life of a rock, I am set free.
I slept like a rock, going to Hawaii.
Eating lunch, a gallon of sushi.
Now you know, being a rock is not easy.

Mimi

Mimi-Farida Ali,
Mimi,
Running away,
When a new human walks her way,
Like lightning,
Under the couch,
And through the curtain,
On Top of the table.
There she is,
But,
She has a goal,

To meet new souls.

(Mimi is a cat)

Aah no!

The Laziest Man in the World

by Semi aged 10

John, the laziest man in the world,
Has been sitting on my couch
For the past 30 years,
And he hasn’t moved a nanometer.
He just sits there.
With a mountain of Mountain Dew.
And Doritos.
Looking blue.
Just playing games.
Hasn’t gotten fresh air…
In about 89694532 years or so.
Now he’s purple.
Poor old John.

The Christmas Miracle

0
by Willow Barry, Amira Veith and Jess Nilson aged 11

The wind blows while I fade away,
Christmas is different starting today,
The gunshots of war
Rattle the floor,
The skies are grey,
Filled with decay.

The war is a mess,
None the less,
Christmas time is getting near.
I don’t have much Christmas cheer,
Why are the soldiers so merciless?
The whole of Britain is in distress.

On this Christmas evening,
The sunset is deepening,
As we come together as one.
We start to cheer with a little bit of fun,
The soldiers stop grieving,
Now nobody is screaming.

The news is on,
We really thought we’d won.
They stab us in the back.
Cut us some slack,
We sit and mourn
Until dawn

Why Maths?

0
by Samridh Kundu aged 11

Maths, maths is all the world
It sets you on a challenging journey through word problems
Maths, maths why is it so beautiful?
It has a solution to every problem

Maths, maths is is amazing
So good it is my favourite subject
Maths, maths is simply all I will do.

Why do people hate maths?
Maths, maths is the thing I adore the most
It is the best thing in the world

The Source of Dread

by Olivia Van Eeden aged 11

‘You’ll be a hero’ they may say
But in the end, you notice, you’re just for display
Joining the fight may make you seem brave,
Though these choices of courage can lead you to your grave

As you stand in battle, waiting to fight,
Your comrades are shot, in the dead of the night
You can mourn, you can cry, but your friends will never come
As you turn to your senses, your realize, war’s a conundrum

When you kill all these people, don’t you feel sad?
We’re all people you know, what if they’re a dad?
As you lay in your big, red pool of blood,
You’ll only be remembered by the stench of the mud

Fat

I grow I get fat
It doesn’t change
I wake up with a sad face
I wish I was like a normal kid
Running fast along the hill
