Fallen Heroes

When his strength is all he has
War is pain for those fight
Death is all around
When he reaches his limit
He feels pain
Bellum mortiferum est

When the rain comes
All he has is himself
All those that die
Cry in Heaven
His comrades limping like hags
Shaking like scared little children
Bellum venenosum est

Guns blasting
Planes bombing
Tanks blowing
Men dying
Men drowning, guttering, crying
All that live
Should
Respect the fallen men
Because

Echoes of War

0
by Amyra Dalal aged 11

In the theatre of strife, a tragic play,
Where dreams of peace, in ashes lay.
The drums of war beat an ominous sound,
Leaving scars on earth, deep and profound.

A symphony of sorrow, a chorus of pain,
As nations clash, hopes wane.
Beneath the smoke, where hatred breeds,
Lies a graveyard of empathy, choked by weeds.

Soldiers, pawns in a power game,
Their lives, mere fuel to the flames.
Families shattered, hearts torn asunder,
In the cruel grasp of war’s thunder.

The spoils of battle, a hollow gain,
As humanity weeps, in silent disdain.
For war knows no victor, no righteous end,
Only broken souls, wounds that never mend.

What’s Under My Bed?

5
by Jordan aged 9

What’s under the bed?
I couldn’t find my toys but now I can see…

A broken toy train, not enough for my brother.
A measuring tape? Not gonna’ bother.
I see some train tracks, making with ease,
Once I put the train down, it broke like cheese.

I found a knife under my bed.
Why is it there? I should be dead!
I found my Nintendo 3DS
I couldn’t reach, it put me to the test

Now it’s time for a turkey feast,
I could’ve brought my knife down earlier to chop this wicked beast!
Now tis’ the time for Saint John,
Chocolate calendar finished, I am DONE.

Now is there anymore under my bed?
A book that I have never read.
A doll for whom I’ve never ever cared,
A great big, cuddly teddy bear,

A picture of me and the whole family.
A tree pose sheet, WHAT AM I IN P.E?!
The space beneath my bed is almost empty,
I ought to clean it more frequently.

I finally found my old lunch box,
And randomly some coloured blocks.
My bed is finally empty, I put everything on my shelf.
Oops I tripped and fell! But luckily didn’t hurt myself.

Never

0
by Harriet-Renee Smedley aged 10

You never knew what I went through
You never would have cared
I cried and cried but none of you dared.
It is my time to go it will be yours one day,
but just you wait, there’s still a lot to pay
If I had to go and you knew
you would have nothing ever to say.
So never let go.
So never say goodbye
and most important of all
I’ll see you once you die.
Never go
But always go
Never dare
Never say it is not your time to go
But I will always be in your heart though!

To Christmas

2
by Chloe aged 10

What a wonderful year
spreading Christmas cheer
Even though it’s fun
it soon will be done
Enjoy your time in the snow
just to let you know
it soon will go
Don’t forget to give cookies for old Saint Nick
and he will give you a peppermint stick
To Christmas!

The Raven Crown

by Juliana Bellman aged 10

The crown was broken
Battle broke because of the crown,
Now the kingdoms are broken.
Because of the crown, things fell apart to the heir,
Is unknown
Unfortunate so,
The heir is not safe from their own world
