Celebrity

I am not my looks
I am not my heavy make up
Or my fanciful dress
I am not the talent that God gifted me with
I am not my fake smiles
Or my flawless skin
Or the person in the movie
For I merely act as them
Act like I am perfect
And ironically
That’s what makes me imperfect

Hot-air Balloons

2
by Pragun aged 12

As I drive in the countryside,
I see some hot-air balloons being readied
At the roadside. Hot-air is being put into them
Which is as light as helium. One of them is

Red and yellow, the other is blue and orange.
When they are filled up, they will be as big

As a hill. They will start moving upwards
And reach a particular height. It will be a slow rise
And calming. You will also see the
Green fields from up above. You will

See the world the same way as God
Sees it. I wouldn’t mind having a ride in one.
In fact, I would love it.

Me

Do you know who I am?
You could not possibly
For I do not know myself
Am not aware of the darkness in my heart
But I do know this
That I am my personality
I am my way of thinking
I am my second nature
I am my friends
That is me

The World of Wonder

by Elsie aged 12

There is a place I like to go,
A place of wonder.
I wonder why trees are green,
I wonder why the tower of Pisa leans,
I wonder why the sky is blue,
I wonder why we wear shoes,
I wonder why the sun is there,
I wonder why people stare,
I wonder why earth is brown,
I wonder how we learnt to frown,
I wonder why there are clouds in the sky,
I wonder why…

The Cat and the Goat

1
by Elsa McFall aged 9

The cat
With the cricket bat
Was at
The boat hire

A goat
Wearing a coat
Stole a boat

The cat
Said, “You dirty rat!”
And whacked him with her cricket bat

Then the goat
Went home to float
But he didn’t get to the polling station
In time to vote.

Garbage Next to a Dustbin

0
by Pragun aged 12

I am going to take the subway.
So, I am at the station.
As I walk to the platform,
I see a dustbin.
It is as empty as the stomach
Of a homeless person who
Has not eaten for a week.

There is garbage around it.
People have surrounded the
Bin with garbage. They
Probably expect the bin to
Pick up this trash and
Feed itself. These people
Throw garbage near

The bin and then complain
That the world is not clean.
The dustbin is too
Weak to feed itself.
I think we need to feed
It instead of leaving behind
Its food near it.

On the Brown Mountain

by Pragun aged 12

We reach the top of the mountain.
It is as brown as wood from a tree.
My Labrador sits on the peak.
We can see hills below covered
With green grass. My dog feasts

His eyes on this vision. He is
Just enjoying the fruits of his hard
Work. Maybe even I should follow
His example and enjoy this sight.
After all, I worked very hard to reach here.

Dragon

His eyes are red, red like fire,
His wings are giant, giant like a parachute,
His roar is ear piercing, ear piercing like a scream,
His claws are sharp, sharp like a Knight’s sword,
His stare is evil, evil like maleficent,
Dragon

Oh, Macbeth!

by Hannah aged 11

Oh, Macbeth!
I lose myself in your hazel eyes,
your shrewd ideas are very wise.
I wish you were mine.
your army is very fine.
Oh, Macbeth!
