Air Pollution

by Geon Kim aged 12

We need to stop making bad air
Animals and human need to be fair

We can re-use, reduce and recycle
So we need to ride less cars and more bicycles

Air

The pollution is bad
People are sad
People ask
To have a mask
People have to stop the factory
So we will have victory

Sun

I play in the sun on this warm day,
I hear birds that sing,
And smell scents that bring
Happiness all around.
The sun is shining all day long
My mouth gets dry from the heat
I get sun burnt because I never wore sun cream!
I love the sun,
The sound of the bees buzzing around,
The sound of the bird’s song
Brings happiness all around.
The Sun.

Why Work?

Why work when you can play?
Why work when it’s a sunny day?
Why work when you can watch TV?
Why work when you can play with me?

The Hornet Ride

I sit in the seat of the roller coaster,
Waiting for it to move.
Slowly it sets of,
Then zooming up the slope,
Whoosh we go down the steep bump,
Around the corner flinging us about,
The force scraping through our hair on the warm spring day,
Then a sudden break makes me jump,
Off we go again,
Sitting in the seat of the roller coaster,
Nothing is in our way!

Space Race Ride

5,4,3,2…
The room goes black,
Faster and faster I go round,
Sitting next to my friend,
Flashes and colours fill the place,
Over waves, faster…
Flicker… Flicker…
I can hear screams,
I can hear laughter,
Faster…
Faster we go round and round,
Pitch black…
Can’t see…
The force pushes my face back,
Faster… faster
What a thriller ride!

Gone

When you left
You left a gaping hole in my heart
And all memories of you
Turned painful
Not joyous
As they once were
And the things I used to do with you
Only bring memories
Which I can’t push away
Why did you go?

Procrastination

by Harshita Das aged 12

I just love to procrastinate
I call myself a master at it
I can hear the heartbeat of the clock
As time goes on, bit by bit

I love to delay the work
Minute by minute, as hours go by
Five minutes six times make half an hour
And detaining just makes the seconds die

I go slowly down the stairs
Step by step, for a snack
And as I nibble on it leisurely
I find that I need a drink from my backpack

After my throat is cooled down
And my unexpected hunger has died
I find that it is time to sleep
For it is really late
My homework lays forgotten on the desk
I just love to procrastinate!!

Colors

0
by Harshita Das aged 12

My world is bright
With different colors

Black
As sleek as a tuxedo
As shiny as polished shoes
Different shades of black in hair
Translucent as sunglasses

Orange
Sometimes, as soft as the sunset
With soft hues spreading in the sky
Sometimes, as bright as an orange
The color of tangerines
Covering the surface

Green
Light as the blades of grass
Rustling in the wind
Dark as the heads of trees
Which is covered in olive leaves
Sometimes a pleasing shade of lime
Bright as a guava

Pink
A pretty girly pink
Found in ribbons and bows
And in the living flamingoes
And a lovely shade of magenta
Found in primroses

Red
As dark as the blood in our veins
And the crimson red
Reflected in the fragile glass of rubies
And the light hue of blush
Found mixed with the skin
Of cheeks

Yellow
Spread out in the meadows
In the form of buttercups
Sometimes golden as the rays of the Sun
Or blonde like hair
And sometimes bright as lemons

Blue
As blue as the dome above us
Or the blanket that is our sky
Baby blue in the morning
And dark with a hint of indigo at midnight

White
As pure as the coats of doctors
Like the middle of the flag
Plain, but as elegant as a dove
And sometimes,
Blinding
