Days of Solice

1
by Will Edkins aged 15

I wander through the halls of time
where golden memories softly shine.
Laughter lingers in the air,
whispers of a life once there.
The sunlit days of endless June,
songs we danced to, out of tune.
Footsteps traced in shifting sand,
hearts unchained, hand in hand.
The echoes call, but time moves fast,
a river that won’t let me grasp
the fleeting touch of days gone by
soft as clouds in a summer sky.
Yet in my heart, they brightly gleam,
alive within each wistful dream.
The past remains, it never fades,
a lantern’s glow in evening’s shade.
But though the years may drift away,
Their echoes still find paths to stay.
In quiet moments, soft and low,
their voices rise, their faces glow.
The scent of rain on thirsty ground,
a song once lost, now newly found.
A photograph, its edges worn,
a story waiting to be reborn.
Not sorrow’s weight, nor longing’s chain,
but gentle warmth that soothes like rain.
For what once was still lives in me,
a timeless thread, a melody.
So as I walk these roads anew,
beneath the skies of deeper blue,
I cherish all that’s come to pass—
the love, the light, the joy that lasts

Oh Australia

Oh, Australia I love you.
Oh, Australia, your sky so blue.
Oh, Australia I love your deserts, mountains, also fountains, all of you.
Oh, Australia I love you, so traditional in this land
Oh, Australia here you stand over them all s
Oh Australia, we love you
Look at you, dear Australia.

The Black Cat

0
by Emmie aged 11

The black cat was walking down the stair
The wall slightly brushing his silky hair
His paws glided down little and fair
While his fierce little claws screamed – Danger! Beware!

The cat’s long silky tail gently flicked the wall
His steady arched back looking ever so tall
He searched for food, he never felt full
While the little cats posture said clearly I rule

The cat stretched out his furry black toes
And slowly twitched his button nose
His eyes glowed red just like a rose
And when the door is open out he goes

His tiny fluffy ears were flat like a pancake
He ran so fast you could hear the floor shake
His fur was so perfect it could have been fake
And he hungrily tucked in to his big juicy steak

Summer

by Isaac aged 10

The sun wakes early, bold and bright,
Spilling gold on fields of light.
Blue skies stretch with lazy grace,
And time slows down its frantic pace.

The breeze is warm, with scents of green,
Of cut grass fresh and oceans clean.
Children laugh with ice-cream lips,
And salt clings to their fingertips.

The trees wear cloaks of emerald hue,
While daisies drink the morning dew.
Each sunset paints the clouds in fire,
Stirring dreams and soft desire.

Barefoot walks through dusty trails,
Paper boats and cotton sails.
Stars arrive like whispered lore—
Summer, knocking at the door.

The Wind

by Michael aged 9

The wind is a star
a moon, an atom
It roams the nights and days
Like a whispering phantom

The wind is a needle
Through mountain and road
The wind is a car
And is never to be towed

The wind has got treasures
It burrows them deep
It has got hoards
That it will always keep

The wind can be a baby
That happily snores
Or can be a giant
Who angrily roars

The wind is an acrobat
It does cartwheels and somersaults
It is also a dancer
As it dances the waltz

The wind is a monster
It is a raging cyclone
But alas it’s actually
Quite lonely
So that is truly who it is…

Buses

by Sarah aged 11

Buses coming up and down
Wait, with a boy in it with a frown

Why does the boy have a frown?
Because his mum scolded him for ruining his sister’s gown

And the bus driver
Is looking brighter

Taking kids to school
Agrownups to the pool

The Forgotten Library

by Aradhana Khuntia aged 11

The bookshelves loomed over people with scorn,
While they read the books all ripped and torn.
Light beams through the frosted glass,
Bordered with thin frames of brass.

The candles flickered with an enchanting glow,
Illuminating secrets from high to low.
‘Reveal your secrets!’ sound the distant cries
But they’re all hidden under a leather disguise.

They yearn for freedom more and more,
But now they seem more stuck than before.
They tried to break free, but their attempts in vain,
Leaving their hearts with nothing but pain.

Spirits flee as if they were never here, NEVER,
Well, actually they might be as close as ever.
Nevertheless they seemed to have vanished,
Maybe sent away or even banished!

Layers of dust linger thick in the air,
Piercing and harsh like an everlasting stare.
Its hidden secrets might seem like a tale,
But trust me, come, and they’re yours to unveil…

Roblox

by Charlie aged 9

Roblox makes me ignite
and then I can fight
until I see the light
I am now a knight
and I have a right
to sleep at night
so now I will fly my kite
as I put on tights
and I have a fright
as I see a silhouette,
with crimson red flesh.

It seems to shake, although slightly.
It’s eyes are fixated on me, watching.
It crawls.
Slowly.
Ever so slowly.
Its head twitching, it looks like a lifeless corpse.
I hear grunts, screams, cries,
all emanating from its body.
It slowly continues
making its way towards me as it opens it’s jaws,
unhinging like a snake.
It quickly retracts its jaws, eating me, whole.
Blood fills its jaws,
MY blood fills its jaws.
As it slowly devours me piece by piece by piece.

So now I can fly my kite as a knight with a right.
I got Roblox today I am so happy everyone

In the Night Sky

In the night, oh so bright
A little star waiting to be set alight
In the big night sky I glow so bright
Just like that little twinkle in your eye
