The Great English Teacher

The impossible vocabulary and words
The impossible sentences
The impossible comprehension
The impossible crosswords
The impossible word searches
The impossible games

The English friend of
You and me
It is the one person
Who we call the English friend
Of ours
The one who taught us
The complicated words and sentences
We use today
The complicated comprehension and games
We play and do together

Together we do things
Filled with joy, fun and spirits
Not always the same thing it is
Sometimes very boring
Sometimes very very very boring
Sometimes it would make us cry and beg her to stop

However it has
Always contributed and helped us in
Our journey with her
It has and will always stay
A brilliant learning experience for us
No matter what

Grow

by Ismah aged 7

Flowers grow & they give a beautiful view
We use a flask to water & flowers grow throughout summer
We love flowers
Dove birds fly above flowers
Bees & wasps point & cry
Bye bye bye little bees.

My Dad Snores A Lot

0
by Eileen Yang aged 11

At night I hear a sound I can’t ignore,
The loud rumble of my dad’s snore.
My dad snores a lot,
And I wonder sometimes if he’s a robot.

I go to the place with the loudest boom,
And I find him in the living room.
I want to change his TV program,
But the remote is tight in his hand like a clam.

When I go to grab a kitchen cup,
He wakes and says, “Who’s up?”
Then he goes through the bedroom door,
And again, there’s that snore!

I go back to bed and look like I’m sleeping,
But then I hear beeping.
I realize it’s my alarm clock,
And I look around in shock!

My dad is finally quiet in bed,
The blanket almost up over his head.
I sigh and lay down for just a bit more,
When again I am awakened by a loud snore!

Thick Skin

by Izzy aged 12

“You are what you eat”
But what if I starve?
A thick or plump figure away that I carve.
So hungry I could swallow the sea,
But I’ll be discarded by society.
They see growing up as unacceptable,
My body another shiny collectible.
Depending on jobs or body hair,
The bigger it is the more that they stare .
Am I just a painting to hang on a wall?
Is beauty a new needed update to install?
Why do we play along and stand still?
As if we were climbing a hill.
The higher you go the harder a breath,
But beauty Is pain and perfection is death.

Newborn Babies!

by Heva aged 9

Newborn babies may be loud,
Their cuteness may make a crowd,
They won’t even weigh a pound.
Those gorgeous eyes,
Green mixed with blue,
Brown eyes are pretty too!
Two swirls on that beautiful baby girl,
nor adults are ungrateful,
nor regretful,
just happy!
Those chubby cheeks, you may wanna just squish ’em!
May sort of be annoying, as
‘Wa! wA! Wa! WA!..’

The Earth is Bleeding

0
by Allie and Sakeena aged 14

Man and nature forever intertwined
Interdependent, internally inclined
Paper, wood, leaves
All once trees
Soon to be demolished
Forests entirely polished
The palm of our hands
Were once part of the land

Trees strict for greed
As Greta Thunberg must plead
Why is it that children see the pain
But adults just seek fame
God took 7 days
To make it perfect
As we use it
We overworked it

As the extinction of animals rise
Mankind refuses to comprise
As animals pound on the land,
Humankind won’t understand

The Earth is begging us
From the bottom of her heart
To stop our menace
And to play a part
We can’t seem to control our rage
Yet we must stop climate change

Time is being wasted on politics and war
You’re hurting the environment even more
Atomic bombs
Missile ships
Helicopters
Beating whips
The Earth is crying for her people
The people that are hiding under their greed, their violence
Smothered in their disturbing silence

The Best of all Mentors

by Veer Sorout aged 10

Praniti likes coffee
She studies in Berkeley
She makes us work
Praniti has written a book
She is determined
She is a journalist
She has won many prizes
She can make poetry
Or a story
She helped me write a book
She helped someone get a certificate
Or a trophy
Praniti is the Shakespeare of India
She makes us cry
But later she makes us fly

The Suffering Tribe

0
by Shivansh Bhallla aged 10

Me, an Adivasi struggles and suffers
In the cruel world
I struggle in getting access to the government
employment and education
People accuse me of being ugly and disgusting
But I am just trying to get people’s respect
Suffer through violent hate crimes and ethnic discriminations
I work so much no one gives me respect
I work harder still no one gives me respect
The world is a cruel place
People come in our tribe
They kill us, torture and harass us
We grow crops for our families
But the government comes in and destroys all of our crops
Our ladies work hard on the streets
Then men come in and ruin their work
The world is smart
The world’s people are smart
But the people don’t use their smartness properly.

The Unbreakable Friendship

by Veer Sorout and Shivansh Bhalla aged 10

Most friendships are not eternal,
But a few are Unbreakable
Like ours is a true bond, lasting forever and ever
We like the same things like football or games,
Most of the time we agree its on food, chips or Ice cream
We both love the same
We are almost brothers,
We have an unwritten rule,
On who makes it to the Dislike List
We will grow up together and live life the best,
with our Unbreakable friendship

Chris The Cloud Maker

2
by Veer Sorout aged 10

I always wonder
Who makes the clouds
For it is a task
For delicate hands
It must require a lot of time
But no one except the creator of clouds would have
That much time
Sometimes it’s a fluffy sheep
Others it’s a smooth horse
Sometimes they have to fill
The clouds with water
To save the Villages
In which the most devotees of God live
From the droughts of the season of summer
The creator of clouds
I shall name
After my pottery teacher
Whose name is Chris
Chris shall make a cloud
Oh watch it go by
Off to save the village
Full of devotees
But midway it encounters a plane
Who bursts the whole cloud
Causing it to burst
All the water flowing down
Makes the village flood up
Now the Sun shall come
And evaporate the water
Causing another drought but
Do not worry as Chris is here
