Me and You

by Molly Copestake and Rose MCgrath aged 9

I like to dress in pink high heels,
You like to dress in football boots,
I like to carry a purple handbag,
You like to carry a blue rucksack.
After school I go shopping,
After school you go to football,
I like to wear pretty dresses,
You like to wear shorts and T-shirt

Even though we are VERY different
we are still BEST FRIENDS.

NOTE: we have started a poetry club and we will send you a poem every Tuesday.

Lockdown Life

1
by Stanley Basey aged 8

Living the lockdown life is boring. I am not exaggerating, not even a single letter.
One walk of the day, never a football match,
Covid-19, spreading like mad, we don’t want to catch.
Keepy uppies all the time,
Does this poem have to rhyme?
Oh I really am feeling blue,
Whatsapp call or Skype again with Grandma, Grampy and Lulu,
No aeroplanes in the sky, on the road little traffic,

Living like this, the lockdown life, I didn’t even get to pick.
I feel I have been washing my hands forever,
Family at home, always together,
Even though it is boring, it is saving lives. Will it ever end?

Mums

Mums look after you
you should look after them too
They made you
with the help of the father
so be kind to them

Isolation

1
by Roisin Shelley aged 12

isolation is a devastation
we could be on vacation
we could be visiting another nation

lockdown makes me frown
I’m not allowed to go to town
I can’t play in the playground

social distancing is the new thing
we can’t stand together
we can only ring

I know this doesn’t sound cool
but I kind of miss school
can’t even go to the swimming pool

Books

Books are the eye of a mind.
They’re composed of a spine and a rind.
They come in different looks
And interest you with figurative hooks.

Fiction, Fantasy and Fact.
All their skills make a pact.
Different publishers: Puffin and Scholastic.
They are all fantastic.
Christmas Carol, Tom Sawyer.
One was perfected by a lawyer.
They are stored on a bookshelf,
Ensuring your literate health.

When you finish it, you’re a critic
Regarding this amazing gimmick.
You can borrow them from a library.
Did You read the book about Indian Mary?

And furthermore go to my website.
I can ensure you all my grammar is right?

Coronavirus

Corona virus is driving me mad
Now I have to work with my mum and my dad
It’s so hard to do the 11 plus
but I have made a fuss
Wash your face but always try to make a case
Roaming our land by the simple touch of mischief of our hand
because if the dreams flow
we cannot control the blow

stay home and stay safe:)

Stay home,
stay safe
and save lives.
Let the bees sleep in their hives

Coronavirus

by Ilham aged 10

The coronavirus is driving me mad.
Now I have to stay with my mum and my dad.
School is closed; I don’t make a fuss.
What happened for revision for the 11+?

The GCSE and A-Levels; the rain in the drought;
Scores being judged on personal thought.
If I go outside there’s no one there.
Having the army around is very rare.

Going to the restroom 20 times a day –
Washing my hands to shake the virus away.
For Fun, I’m creating buildings with Lego Blocks.
Then creating a puppet show with VERY old socks.

Chat with my teacher using Zoom.
From, of course, a different room.
Then I run off and watch YouTube;
My sister delights in people being a nube.

But remember, I’ll keep up my fitness levels.
Watching Joe Wicks, then running like devils.
Now I’m exhausted, a bit of rest
Will get my brain to be the best!

To avoid my mind being blank,
I scheme up, for my sister; a prank.
Then I clap for our medical team
To thank them for their work supreme.

Masks and sanitizer will do no good.
They’re basically like a permeable hood.
I’m not allowed to go out.
Quarantine eliminates doubt.

The coronavirus in the air; It’s hard to believe
But we’ll soon get a reprieve.
But don’t be worried – we’ll be fine
If you go along the government’s lines
