Lockdown 2020

1
by Erin Jones aged 9

I remember hearing on the news about people getting sick,
Miles away from us, we didn’t even think,
How fast it would fly around the world, like an aeroplane in the sky.

Scared at first, then we heard, we are ALL to STAY AT HOME!
We must PROTECT OUR NHS to save lots of lives.
No School, no friends, no family to see for a very long time.

At home at first, I was excited, no school and hot chocolate in the day.
Happy spending time with mum and dad and an annoying sister that likes to play!
BBQ’s, bikes and scooters whizzing around the place.
My feelings changing day by day.

But then, after time I began to miss my grandparents and mates.
Video calls aren’t the same as seeing them face to face.
I miss playing, singing, hugs and kisses but at least we’re all still safe.

On our daily walks we see winter turn into spring, flowers and bright green leaves.
The air is cleaner with no cars or planes, surely everyone can see?
Do we need to learn a lesson from this lockdown and virus?
Protecting ourselves is just as important and looking after our environment.

Home Schooled

0
by Ruby aged 11

We all have to stay inside
but on Monday to Friday we have school
Well, not in the same classroom
your parents or siblings may teach you
they spend as much time trying to teach you
so try your hardest to be…
HOME SCHOOLED!

We all have to stay inside
you might have to wake up early
but it will all be worth it
You can have less time doing work
and you could listen to your favourite music
so try your hardest to be…
HOME SCHOOLED!

Life Without Sport

3
by Charlie Britton aged 9

Life without sport is such a bore
All I want to do is score
No football to watch or play
Maybe it will come back some day
No training during the week
No matches at the weekends
When will we ever get to see our friends?

If the Virus Could Sing

4
by Millie Q aged 9

My name is COVID19, my oh my
The media really loves me, don’t know why
Everyone googles ’bout me, every night
Some masks they try to stop me, they can try.

Yea, I know that I’m scary,
But you can avoid me,
With good sanitation,
You don’t need to worry.

Humans hate on me
But I’m not the one who is racist here,
Yea cuz, I don’t care if you’re Chinese,
Or you are British.
I just realised that I’m washing my hands,
Now its time to say goodbye!

(Me)
Yea, please go away you nasty bug.
No one likes you and us humans
Don’t deserve to be stuck in quarantine
For your own selfish needs.

The Wild Fox

0
by Noel Tarcza aged 8

I’m a fox, nothing like a lazy sloth.
I like to search all over the streets.
It feels very wrong.
This is the life of a fox.
I always steal and it feels very wrong.

Jungle life
Monkeys swing on trees, tigers love to eat
Pandas lay on trees, while I eat my sweets
Cheetahs run a lot
They don’t compare to sloths
Goats live on mountains, lions own the theme park

The Fat Cat

0
by Inshirah Zaib aged 9

There once was a cat named Barry
After eating, he got hairy
He loved his toy mouse
And ran out the house
And was too heavy to carry

Spaghetti

0
by Aseel Shrief aged 9

Spaghetti, spaghetti all over my face,
Up to my shoulder, up to my face
Up to my eyeball down to my tongue
How come it shrank?
How come you’re fatter?
How come you’re holding a fork?
And it’s sadder?
You must have ate it,
And that’s why it shrank!
That’s why there is less spaghetti
all over the ground!

If This Were To Have Happened Decades Ago

0
by Edmund Kimber aged 11

During this lockdown
We complain, wishing to do all sorts of things we’re not allowed to do
But we forget to understand that technology has moved on in the past
decades
If this were to have happened decades ago
There would be very little connecting with people who don’t live with us
People wouldn’t be allowed to see their friends and relatives
So as well as the National Health Service
I’d like to thank the companies improving their video call sites in this period

If anything, this is an opportunity for people to make use of being able to
video call each other
Something we wouldn’t have been able to do decades ago
Sometimes we forget that these things exist, and see people less often
Yes, people can over-interact
But they can also under-interact by not making use of the resources we have
today

My Love for Food

1
by Taliyah aged 9

My love for food
is oh so big,
when I don’t eat,
I get in a mood.

My brother says I’m greedy,
but he’s just jealous
of how big my my belly is.
He should say I’m needy
