A Revolution

0
by James Lockhart aged 10

I came across a palimpsest embedded in the sand,
It spoke of all the horrors that a human race had had,
A massive general uprising which flourished in its time
It gave me all the facts and data I could need,
To spark a long lost story and grow it like a seed.

The humans in themselves were not at all in a well state,
For the king he charged them all too much of late,
So therefore for their honour they charged at prison walls,
They broke in, let captives out and pillaged all,
And all because of threadbare clothes and nothing to eat at all.

They did all seek to liberate their country from this nightmare,
All the king and queen could do was stand and watch and stare,
The queen though unimposing was sent to the chopping block,
The royal family could not stand another knock,
So the victory was won the king he lost his head,
Though this long lost story could never really end.

Mghati, Mghati
We are a crazy family
Mghati, Mghati
We are we
Yes we may be different but we are us
and you are different in your family
so we are ALL US!

My Life

Oh Father, Oh Mother, Oh Sister, Oh Brother,
Sooty’s gone up in the tree.
Life is a diddle, life is a doddle
Don’t go blaming me.

My life, my life
A Doddle, A Diddle.
Don’t go blaming me.

Oh teacher, oh teacher,
I have a rip in my knee.
Life’s a diddle life’s a doddle
Don’t go blaming me.

The Night

(A song. Part one.)

Why you standing over there?
acting like you just don’t care,
we can make our own kinda music.

We might come from different worlds,
might not be your kinda girl,
but I just wanna let go and lose it.

We are lost and found,
so let’s go turn the beat around,
and maybe find a brand new sound.

LETS TURN IT UP RIGHT NOW!

Because the night is young,
and it’s just begun,
let’s get it started,
and go ’til the sun comes UP!

(that is all I’ve done so far)

Hey, You There

Hey, you don’t give up,
Never back down,
I have a pet, it’s a pup,
You’d better hide that frown.

Hey, you you’re so smart,
I know that balloon will inflate,
You can keep the bully and the victim apart,
You will also learn how to levitate.

If you believe in yourself,
Anything is possible.

That Is Important

by Millie Q aged 9

Not touching your face, that is important.
New paper for art, that is unimportant.
We are killing the planet, that is important.
Touching a pig, that is unimportant.

Don’t touch your face,
Learn at your own pace.
Don’t kill the planet,
When they get cut down, trees say, “Dammit!”

Not touching your face is oh so important,
Unlike art, it will save you from the unimportant!

Lockdown

by Demi aged ?

Why is lockdown so hard ,
We deserve to be abroad,
You think when are we seeing are friends again,
But we eat until we are together again,
We will be together soon,
Just keep on looking at the moon,
Lockdown needs to be happy,
As we need to spend time with our family,
Just keep safe,
And so bake.

The Ghost is Quite Annoyed

2
by Elsa McFall aged 11

(with apologies to Charles Causley)

Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth-Toast

Was quite irritating to me, his house ghost.

I’m not sure he knew I was trying to haunt him,

As none of my scariest ghost tricks could daunt him.

My plan for the first night was really quite fine,

I would appear; he’d knock over his wine.

But at some point it all utterly failed,

I was shocked; people normally screamed and flailed.

I appeared and screamed my dread warning out,

I pulled up a tile and vanished the grout.

But he remained completely unfazed;

If anything, only a little bit dazed.

The next bit really was the final straw.

I gave my best ever terrifying roar

But, just as before, he did not seem to care,

And only put down his wine to stare.

Everything I could find was thrown about,

Still there was only one thing he would shout

And that thing was “Encore! Encore!”

Whatever I did, he wanted more.

I floated around between ceiling and floor:

I floated around and I walked through the wall

I returned through a window without a slight break

And backed up the chimney, for haunting’s sake!

Finally, I just could not stand it-

Neither could I understand it.

I left to look for new vacancies;

The ghost estate agent is awful at these.

Food

by Sizhe aged 9

I’m at home still eating healthy
But I sometimes still eat unhealthy
I will start of with the healthy stuff
Which will make you strong and tough

Eating cucumbers and potatoes
Also eating grapes and nice fresh tomatoes
Apples oranges bananas and pears
Are foods we eat that will care

Now it’s time for the jelly
Enough grape jelly to fill my belly
I’m also eating biscuits and chocolate
With a side of lemon sherbet
