Darkness

2
by Reem Kazmi aged 9

Darkness, darkness, like the eyelid of the night sky,
Darkness, darkness, the phantom that haunts so many innocent souls,
It is the reason the world is as torn as it is now…

Darkness, darkness, fostering the evil within,
Darkness, darkness, the place where trouble was born,
Humanity was a better race without it…

Darkness, darkness, the enemy that just wouldn’t leave you alone,
Darkness, darkness, blacker than the secrets stored in it,
Yet, never did it give up, regardless of the amulets and legends warding it away…

Darkness, darkness, a world filled with sorrow and regret,
Darkness, darkness, where only the most vicious criminals lurk,
The place where clouds of misery ruled the pitch black sky that never, ever changed…

Darkness, darkness, companion of the prisoners,
Darkness, darkness, visitor of jails,
If only it never really jumped into its unwanted presence…

Darkness is the dungeon that will never cease to capture,
Darkness is the true meaning of gloom,
Darkness is the being that will never ever fade!

Coronavirus

Who likes Coronavirus?
Definitely not me,
People say it is just a virus,
But I disagree.

COVID 19 is a pain,
I wish it would go away
down the drain,
I want it to walk down a passageway
and disappear.

Horses

Most horses are ride-able
Just be gentle and careful
Never hit or be unkind
And never ever scare them
Never walk behind a horse
It is only for your safety

My Obsession with a Cat

0
by Olivia aged 10

I have an obsession
No I don’t wanna suggestion
but I’ll tell you her name
even though you might drain
the water
please don’t tell this to your daughter

Her name is Mog and no she’s not a dog
she is a cat
I know she doesn’t have a hat
I wish she had a hat
although she’ll sit on the mat
if she does that does not mean
she is not a BUZZ

She likes to go on the bus
but she still always loves me
and I know I’m not the kind of person
in the world
but that does not mean
I am not a girl
but not even Mogg
is a stinky old cat that eats a rat

Underwater

2
by The Poetry Club (Rose and Molly) aged Both 9

I dive into the sea,
And feel so very free,
There is a great SPLASH,
And I’m underwater in a flash,
Great big waves flow over me,
The magical creatures are all I can see,
But I have to come up to take a break,
Otherwise my eyes will start to ache,
Tropical fish gliding along the waves,
I’m longing to discover some underwater caves,
But very soon it’s time to go,
And leave this wonderful world of woah,
But I know I’ll be back very soon,
On a Tuesday afternoon.

NOTE: this is from the poem club.
Remember us…

The Sky

by Laney aged 10

I look out the window and look up at the sky,
I see birds, bees and butterflies.
I love blue skies but when they’re grey I don’t mind,
I wait for the rain to start,
It taps on the glass and calls me to play,
On my coat and in my boots,
Rain rain just stay one day.

Crisp Inspector

by Delia aged 9

Why would I chose to be a crisp inspector?
Because I would not want to be a pet food tester!
Oh, eating so many flavors
would do the nation a favour!
Oh, eating crisps would be the dream job
Oh haw I would go, if I was not a crisp inspector

I will be the perfect candidate I promise
if not my tears will rain down upon us
Oh, how the flavors would make me drool
too bad there is not a rule
I know the production line
I hope there is not a rule about
being only nine

Quarantine

by Sanaya Jagtap aged 10

”Stay safe, stay home.”
Hearing that can be a bit of a groan
Stuck home with family
Can make us growl angrily
And although you are away from friends
You can still keep in touch from end to end
But did you know there is a positive side
And that is that you are still alive

Corona Virus!

Corona Virus
is getting worse
it’s like a curse brought to earth
Each day people get sick
now they cant go outside
and kick some footballs
Don’t touch anything dirty
they have germs
I warn you
it will be like touching a lot of worms.
We are losing lots of tissues
and it is causing lots of issues.
So stay at home, roaming on foam.

Due to this sticky situation
we have to stay in our homes
We need help the nation
so why not write a poem?

We just need to wash our hands
and stay two meters apart
We need to stay on our lands
We need to all play our part

When this is over
you can go see your friends
you can have a sleep over!
or build dens?

The possibilities are endless
so we need to be patient
It will be tremendous
I promise determination
will win this Battle

We just need to get out of this frustration
We just need to change the channel!
