Why

by Reem Kazmi aged 9

Just why did it have to be me?
Why could it not be somebody else?
On my deathbed, for sure my last thought will be
Why do misfortunes choose me?

All my life accidents and bruises were attracted to me like a magnet,
But why? Oh, why is my life such a mistake?
My limbs and body looked as horrible as a tiger’s dead prey,
People jeering at me would be the bullies of my past,
Indeed, why I was the most laughed at kid in class was no question.

WHY?

What I Want to Be

1
by Elodie Barker aged 10

I want to be a gymnast
Cartwheeling down the aisle
In my red sparkly leotard
Whilst my homework lies in a pile.

I want to be a gymnast
And dedicate my time to train
But I have to get up very early
And that can be a  pain.

I want to be a gymnast
It’s my passion and my dream
To win a gold medal for my country
And maybe even meet The Queen.

Bake

by Charlottei aged 10

angel cake and carrot cake
cupcakes and banana bake

Victoria sponge ancient and old
cake is amazing I was told

birthday cake and wedding cake
eat some cake for goodness sake

mug cake and Swiss roll
cake is connected to my soul

cookies and sweet cheesecake
now I’ll take a lovely tea break

chocolate eclairs and strawberry tarts
apparently made by the Queen of Hearts

on a stick cakepops
buy them at the cake shop

Nutella slice and apple pie
all this food makes me cry

cake I’ll take to my friend
this poem has come to an end

Quarantine Poetry

Quarantine is super lonely,
Always social-distancing!
I miss school and friends and shopping,
We’re missing out on so much things!

Quarantine is super boring,
Can’t talk with friends no more!
I miss the fun activities,
This is no lie, this is a bore!

Quarantine is super sad,
Shops and work is super hectic!
I miss the outside world,
Quarantine has got us wreckin’!

But,
Less air pollution and green nature,
This Quarantine is also amazing!
We’re helping and appreciating the NHS,
Corona time bad, but incredible and crazy!

Warm Peaceful Places

by Hannah aged 9

The lake is warm as the sun
the grass is so soft
and dry as your skin
and the roses and flowers
are like your in a peaceful place
and you close your eyes
and there is the sun and the beach
and the warm peaceful water
and it makes you feel
like you just want to go in it
and there is no one there

you fly like a butterfly
you dance like a gentle man
you walk like you’re about to dance
you run like you never have ran

In a World of Wonder

2
by Millie Q aged 9

In a world of wonder, we dive so deep.
In a world of wonder, we thrive and become alive.

We learn new things, in OUR world of wonder,
We live a good life, in OUR world of wonder,
We will make Our world of wonder a better place,
for it is OURS, and it deserves to survive.

As we live our lives, we notice changes happening
to OUR world of wonder, OUR Earth.
Save the planet, the world of wonder.

Poetry Zone

Poetry zone,
Has a throne!
Has a bee,
Or maybe three.
They have men,
Maybe ten!
Has a dove,
Dove of love.
Let’s pretend,
That’s the end!

Even in These Really Tough Times, It is No Lie that Nature is Beautiful Outside.

Flowers that bloom about our feet,
Tender grass, so fresh, so sweet,
Song of bird, and hum of bee,
All things good we hear or see,
Blue of stream and blue of sky,
Pleasant shade of branches high,
Fragrant air and cooling breeze,
Beauty of the blooming trees.

Even in these really tough times,
It is no lie that nature is beautiful outside.
