The Circus

by Charlottei aged 10

walking in a crowd
of cheering people
the bells rang
from the church steeple

the carousel and
ferris wheel
the machines
made of shining steel

the tent striped
gold red and white
the fairy lights
lit up the night

i walked in
with the eager crowd
the laughter in the air
was rather loud

i saw elephants
thumping on the ground
and tigers ran
round and round

then trapeze artists
fell from the sky
and a tightrope walker
cartwheeled up high

clowns appeared
and made a fuss
when fell down
when catching a bus

the show went on
into the night
i liked it
it was quite a sight

the circus was strange
and weird and fun
i would go back
to dance and run

Terrified

Love
Openness
Nervousness
Excited
Lifted weight
Yearning to see

This is how we all feel
and we want you to know
we’re all in the same boat

Alone

by India Creek aged 9

Scared alone
Wandering through the unknown
Wondering bad feelings
Something evil, dark, corrupt.

Life as a Panda

We are really fun,
bamboo is what we munch.
our food is really tall,
and that is all!

We Have Something They Have Nothing

by Isabelle Boardman aged 8

We have something,
They have nothing,
Like the people in Syria,
They have no food,
They have no water,
But we have it all.

We have something,
They have nothing,
Like the people in Africa,
They have some food,
They have some water,
But we have it all.

Sadness

1
by Charlottei aged 10

when the air is murky
and the skies aren’t blue
and the world is dark
and there’s a rain cloud over you

when the light has gone
and the forest isn’t bright
and even though it’s day
it feels like night

Now

Lockdown’s eased,
You can’t imagine how many people this pleased,
But the government aren’t at rest,
But they’re up to the test.

Flowers

Roses are red
and violets are blue
they bring happiness
just like you

Daisies are white
lily pads are green
silky smooth petals
touching my soft skin

Mythical Fairies

2
by Diya aged 8

Mythical fairies have bright blue dresses
No matter what with fairy messes.
Sleeping on my comfy yellow pillow.
Waiting for my tooth to be gone.
But is a fairy real
Or is there none?
Ouch! My tooth is hurting
It must heal then it will be comforting.
Try to take out the waste
From your brain.
Never say no to a fairy
Because it might not listen to you
Watch out for that tiny fairy kid
it can spread out fairy dust on
Your head.

Corona Virus Must End

by Diya aged 8

Corona virus must end
Because sometimes it’s not fun to stay home
That’s what we must send.
We can find the medicine
Only if we can fight corona virus
and work as a team.
So we eradicate it.
Help the sick
before the clock ticks.
