Little Red Riding Hood
Little red riding hood
runs to the forest alone
away from her home at sea
then she kicks a stone
Into the forest
with a cape she goes
What’s in the forest?
Nobody knows
Her basket for grandma
tight in her hand
the huge forest
a dark grassland
She picks some flowers
one by one
in a grassy patch
shaded from sun
For grandma
in the basket they go
the heavy basket
makes her slow
A wolf near the trees
watching the girl
his eyes shining
like a shiny pearl
He runs to the girl
with a bounce in his stride
and then he walks by
the girl’s side
He asks, Where are you going
so far from sea?
She says, To my grandma
so we can have tea
Then off bounds the wolf
happy with glee
thinking, I’ll be having
YOU for tea
He runs to grandma’s house
bringing a few objects
One is a knife!
I wonder what happens next
Mary Seacole Saves the Day
Mary, Mary, Mary
Managing all the mangled men
lying there day after day
thinking what will happen
Mary did not give up
she did not stop
because she loved
everybody the same
Mary, Mary, Mary
must have been scary
looking at all the injured men
she did not see
everyone wanted her to be
the queen bee
Mary, Mary, Mary
what did happen
how it has turned out
I now know about you
I want others to know you too
A Dog’s Love (part 2)
Like a tiger, he is so active.
Like a tiger, he hates being soaked with water.
Like a cheetah, he’s so fast.
Like a cheetah’s spots, he’s one of a kind.
I love my little Bruce.
I love him like I love my sweet little Ivy.
Like sugar, he’s sweet.
Like life with my two dogs, he’s perfect.
I love him, he loves me.
Midnight
midnight you’re so scary
you look so hairy
you may be dark
you look like bark
blackness fills the sky
your so eerie I might say bye
you smell like a dirty tin
I’d lock you in a bin
I may as well lock the door
you’re like an apple core
you’re mouth won’t stop those lies
it’s time we say our good-byes
bye
