The Swimming pool

1
by Lily Hutchings aged 9

Before in the swimming pool
I noticed a funny slide,
laughing and giggling
with young children gliding down its back.
Water flumes spraying, singing and dancing in circles.
A rapid running inside and outside twirling like a ballerina.

After in the swimming pool
I saw a slide crying, screaming and screeching in the quiet,
almost abandoned area.
Lonely water flumes waiting for someone to come and play,
slowly drying out, no water running down.
A rapid weeping because it is standing still
and not twisting and turning like a spinning top.

Black Lives Are Important

1
by K. G. aged 11

Black lives are important,
it doesn’t matter who they are,
white AND black,
but we need to realise that,
black lives matter,
and we should do something.
We should not let this carry on,
black lives are important,
it doesn’t matter who they are,
blue eyes, green eyes, brown eyes,
black hair, blonde hair, brown hair.
It is so important that we stop this,
fighting, killing, shooting,
it is not at all fair,
they are just like us.
Racism is wrong,
it should not end up in fights and wars,
think of how many black lives we have punished,
they haven’t done anything to make us angry.
They are innocent
and we are just hurting them,
black lives are important.

Pursue your dream
don’t start to leave
Please, please
It doesn’t matter who you are but
pursue your dreams

The Children’s Hour

A whisper and then silence
yet I know by their merry eyes…

Button

by Cody C. aged 8

This morning I found a button,
On my land
On a plank of wood.

It is old and rusty,
On my land,
On a plank of wood.

Not young and dusty,
On my land,
On a plank of wood.
My Button.

Better

Things are a bit bad
and everyone is a bit sad
some people are even mad
but everything will be better
and the light will shine
You will see your family
and I will see mine
Nothing is much fun
we can’t play in the sun
we are stuck at home all day
and our families are away
but things will get better
We must not moan
we must not groan
because things will get better
but we must keep hope. ๐Ÿ™‚

Slow Worm

1
by Fabio Macis aged 8

The old slow worm had a beard,
Because he was 20 years.
Everyone thought he was a worm but that was fake,
He was a legless lizard not a snake.
They like to lay in the sun,
I like to play at the park to have fun.
We saw one the other day,
And we wanted to play.
But it slithered away into the grass,
It was way too fast!

The Sand Lizard

1
by Matteo Macis aged 9

The sand lizard survived the blizzard,
From the wizard.
The sand lizard likes the sand because it gets very tanned,
It likes to get tanned because of the desert band.
The desert band lost itโ€™s hand,
In the mystery sand.

Dreams

Dreams can be big
Dreams can be small
Dreams can be thin
Dreams can be tall
Dreams can be good
Dreams can be bad
Dreams can be happy
Dreams can be sad
A dream world,
a dream swirl,
a dream kingdom,
a dream twirl.
All we know is
that they are
a fragment of imagination

Black Lives Matter

by Mohanad Shalabi aged 10

Black lives matter.
even if you don’t care.
You got to go outside and protest.
It’s better for you and better for some people.
Even if its nothing for some people but it’s something for us.
Black Lives Matter.
