The Bird

by Olivia aged 12

The bird that feels so strong and free
beats his wings, starts to lift off his tree
He starts to lift off his branch
and make his way to a nearby ranch

He stops to talk to his wisest friend
it’s owl who will defend
He has go, see you soon
after his trip to the moon

He carries on till he reaches the ranch
and goes to perch on a nearby branch
He stops and starts to sing a merry tune
to say thank you for the world and see you soon

He flies across the moonlit sky
when he’s there he sees nigh
the same ordinary amazing ranch
then he goes to sleep on his unique branch

He’ll wait till the sun will rise
for a new day and a big surprise
He snuggles down in his comfy nest
so he can have a good night’s rest

The bird that feels so strong and free
beats his wings, lifts oh his tree
He starts to lift off his branch
and flies away to a nearby ranch

What I See

0
by Owen Thomas aged 10

Walking through the forest
I see foxes burrowing their way into the dirt
I spot birds soaring through the trees
The trees swaying in the wind
Beautiful leaves falling to the floor
looking like a colourful carpet
of red, yellow and brown

Six Angels

by Arisa Strife aged 9

His business so augmented of late years,
That he was forced, against his will, no doubt,
(Just like those cherubs, earthly ministers,)
For some resource to turn himself about,
And claim the help of his celestial peers,
To aid him ere he should be quite worn out
By the increased demand for his remarks:
Six Angels and twelve Saints were named his clerks

Peace and Joy

Peace and joy,
Equal to every girl and boy,
And without peace,
Could the people of war be stuck with the police?
Eternally peaceful.

Wind Lion

by Owen Thomas aged 10

The wind lion roars
Ferociously prowling
Across the Savannah.

Fiercely tearing down trees
Showing its strength.

Attacking all in its path,
Showing no mercy.

Swift and powerful,
The wind lion is the king.

Mummy

Mummy was happy she smiled a lot
then one day she just stopped.
It wasn’t her fault it was all too much.
They called her paralysed
I don’t know what that means.
Mummy was sad, mummy was angry,
she cried too many days.
It’s OK mummy I love you always.
Mummy was my butterfly
but now she was broken.
You could see she was a butterfly too
and you taught her even broken was beautiful.
Piece by piece you helped
to put mummy’s broken parts back together.
She began to smile,
then I heard her laugh and I smiled too.
Mummy got stronger
and brighter and more like my mummy.
I said mummy don’t give up on me
and I won’t give up on you.
But most of all I still have a mummy
and that’s really down to you.
I love and am loved
thankfully that’s because we met you.
Thank you.

Chasing my Dreams

0
by Julia Nelischer aged 11

I’m chasing my dreams,

Like a gymnast raising the bar,

Like a child reaching for a star,

So l push myself further,

Faster and faster,

Like a rollercoaster down a slope,

Like a cheetah chasing an antellope.

And finally l achieve it!

Like a soaring bird, l forever go upward,

As if the world has no downward.

But every day, the world moves on,

And before you can stop it,

It has already gone.

Late!

by Julia Nelischer aged 11

Oh no! I’m late!
I’m getting in a terrible state!
Being late is something I hate!
And there’s my teacher standing at the gate…
I don’t know if I want to know my fate…
I’m late!

The Ship in the Bottle

by Charlottei aged 10

swaying gently on the lulling waves
surrounded by clear, pellucid caves
when a storm hits just wait for a while
wait some more then the sun will smile

wooden ship slender and long
beside the ship a whale with a song
billowing flag white and fresh
the waves begin to crash and thresh

trapped in a bottle glassy and cold
sailing waters crashing and bold
try to escape you never will
anxiously feeling the deadly chill
