My Box

1
by Joseph Pearce aged 8

I will put in my box a rumble from a raging river,
The lightning strike of a colossal storm slithering from the sky.
I will put in the box a finger touching and an odd obedient oesophagus,
the tip of a nose touching the mane of a champion horse in the South East,
the touch of a slimy bloody eye of a basilisk.
I will put in my box the 100th month and ten thousandth day,
a super speedy snail and a super slow flash.
My box is forged from dynamite, dark matter and antimatter,
with the WWE olden champion’s belt on the lid
and toxic ooze in the hinges.
Its hinges are made of nuclear glue.
I shall swim in my box in the Mediterranean ocean a
nd then wash up on a Caribbean beach and watch the stars.

Amazing Collection of Life

by Erin aged 10

Butterflies swooping with the leaves,
A red fox is creeping,
A deer is standing there,
So still,
So silent.
This is a forest,
It’s an amazing collection of life,
So next time you go to a forest,
Take a second to stop,
Listen,
Look,
At these wondrous things

Victory in Europe day

We are free from struggle.
Violence is very subtle.
Heroes are feeling proud.
Dust and blood is cleared from the clouds.
During the war, here and there we flew.
But now we are free, it is true.
The news is splendour.
Germany has finally surrendered.
To all the warriors, we salute you!
We love you for everything you’ve gone through.
You’ve proved to everyone, who the true heroes are.
Not the superheroes in comic books, but for who you are!

Getting Better

by Mahroosh Qasim aged 9

I am a girl in my school
which may sound simple.
I used to not be good at maths during lockdown,
but now because of learning
I am the fastest at maths in my class.
I’m good at English too and other lessons.
I used to hate maths
now I love maths.

The River Unicorn

4
by Yuvanthikha Rajmohan aged 8

These unicorns are extraordinary,
Not the kind you would call ordinary,
As they ride with their flowing hair,
It is amazing and it is rare,
Magical powers in their horns,
Crystal clear hair, they adorn,
Will heal all human ailments with love,
Horns transparent and manes white as a dove,
They enhance the magic,
Nothing will be tragic,
Those amazing unicorns

A Shooting Star

by A.H aged 10

The rain pours down,
The wind swishes around,
The waves tumble and crash,
Nothing seems right,
The damp sand,
can be barely seen
as the tides viciously come in and out.
But wait a minute, look at the sky
glimmering stars and a crescent moon
something among these gems catches your eye
a glimmer, a glitter racing across the twilight sky
you close your eyes
you wish for…
your eyes open and everything feels…
all right.

A Journey With My Best Friend Siwan

1
by Lily McKay aged 9

I walk to the sweet stables.
I see Siwan in the meadow and collect her
from rolling round in sunshine buttercups
Saddle up, saddle up, saddle up

I happily jump on her back
and the sun reflects on her soft, champagne mane
Walk on, walk on, walk on

We walk across the meadow
and we see the emerald trees swaying in the breeze.
Trot on, trot on, trot on

Following the twisty, bumpy path, we go on the glorious beach with the shiny sand and the shimmering ocean
Canter, Canter, Canter

Patting the sea foam with her hooves,
she enjoys hearing the splish, splash of the water.
Gallop, gallop, gallop

The waves ride in like a million white horses
and Siwan wants to make new friends
Jump, jump, jump

The magical sun is about to set
and its colours fill our hearts
Nuzzle, nuzzle, nuzzle

Halloween

by Varunikka aged 8

A spooky shrill down my spine,
A cyclops climbing vines.
Baby ghosts going boo,
Lots of other stuff too.
October 31st is a special day.
We all dress up in our own type of way.
Pumpkins in a scary scene
On this long night
It’s Halloween

Me and My Mum

1
by Mariam aged 9

I love my mum because she is kind
And always has everything In her mind
Me and my mum love to talk
And sometimes like to go for a walk

I love my mum because she is fun
And makes it more fun for everyone
She always loves to brush my hair
And make people laugh everywhere
