The Star of Shine

The rain pours down in front of the star of shine,
It shines all day, it shines all night,
Here is the deluge at half past nine,
It rushes down the star, still it is so bright.

Darkness cover the towns,
As the sky cries,
Everyone’s in their night gowns,
While only one bird flies.

The star of shine has the power,
Bring back the light to help us out,
In a second i see the light inside the tower,
And just then i shout:

“It’s the morning, half past nine!
Thank you for the light, the star of shine!”

Alfie and the Minotaur

1
by Caleb aged 10

Alfie was walking when, in awe,
His eyes fell upon the Minotaur!
It lifted its axe, gave a dreadful roar,
And now Alfie is no more.

Snow

Wake up, wake up,
The clouds are giving birth.
It’s cold, it’s white, it’s raw,
It’s wonderful amazing snow.

The ground turns white,
The schools shut down.
Children come out to play,
It’s wonderful awesome snow.

Icicles start forming,
The temperature drops below zero
Houses start to get covered,
It’s wonderful playful snow.

The snow is a foot deep,
The shoes all start to get soggy.
Children start going back in,
It’s wonderful magnificent snow.

The sun comes out,
The snow starts to melt.
The schools reopen,
It’s wonderful lovely snow.

If I Were Winter

1
by Annabelle aged 9

If I were winter, I would cover the trees
And I would blow a freezing breeze

Across the sky my snow clouds would  lie
Across the sky robins fly

Warm fires slowly light
And make the numb people bright,

Animals hibernate under the trees
Near the ponds are frozen reeds,

Ice cold snow would fall from the sky
Beneath the trees hibernating animals lie

Icicles point down to the floor
And the land would be frozen to the core

Sleet bashing,
Lightning flashing.

Rain zooming,
Thunder booming.

Hurricanes smashing,
Hail crashing.

Winter in a Wonderland

0
by Sophia aged 9

Winter is cold as cold as can be,
Santa is coming across the sea.

The children are waiting for Saint Nicholas to come,
They’re tucked in the their beds waiting for fun.

As the moon shines bright
the cold wind blows,
The wolves are howling
There’s a little red nose.

The river ice frozen chilly and bland,
Oh I do love winter in a wonderland.

The Sounds of Winter

1
by Caleb aged 10

Rain falls, cold and grey
Harsh and wet on a bleak winter’s day

Hail drops like stinging thorns
Cold and hard on a cruel winter’s morn

Winds howl, like wolves to the moon
Icy and bitter on a wild winter’s noon

Icicles dripping, swept away like leaves
Cold and hard on a frosty winter’s eve.

Cozy Winter

1
by Derin aged 9

If I were winter I’d make the wind blow
And the frosty snow glow
With my temperature low.

With the colour brown, I’d make you frown
In the little town
Of one pride bright light

With the wild cats crawling at the walls.
With their howls and prowls.

With the big owls
With their koo koo

They’d live here
But not this near.

I Dunno

Who is my friend? I dunno.
What’s the new trend? I dunno.
Where is my bed? I dunno.
Does my rabbit have to be fed? I dunno.
Do I have a brother? I dunno.
Do I have a mother? I dunno.
Where is the shop? I dunno.
What is a cop? I dunno.
Can you shut up!!!
I dunno.

The Garden

1
by Warren Brown aged 10

The garden has beautiful leaves
And grass that breathes
As the plants start to grow
The winds begins to blow

As the daffodills start to flower
The rain comes to shower
As the garden comes alive
The spring has arrived
