The Imaginary

by Summer aged 9

The seeing of the rain smashes the ground
This place is not a goblin house
It is a house of loving and caring people
I have a dog as cute as a puppy
My area is my bedroom
Because I see custard as tasty as sausages
The sun is as bright as a shooting star!

Look at the giant footprints!
This could be a hint
Who made it?
It’s as deep as a pit
A giant made it
Or me wearing an outfit?

My Brother Sam

0
by Molly Copestake aged 9 1/2

My brother Sam is nice,
He has long hair but not lice,
He calls a pot of hummus toto,
And likes to drink from a bottle,
But not milk like baby sons and daughters,
Juice sweet like sugar water.
And once it’s time to say goodnight,
He sleeps sweetly in dark, not light,
But sometimes he can cry and cry,
and I can’t get to sleep, I don’t know why.

Right Now

Right now it is strange and weird,
All this time a virus has been feared.
Everybody has to social distance
And wear a medical mask for assistance.

Right now I am sat on the comfy sofa,
I just finished designing a kindness poster.
Writing poems is helpful and cool,
As it is fun and actually helps to sooth.

Right now, we can celebrate with pancakes,
Flipping the pancake will probably have many takes!
All the ingredients will be scattered,
We can make them are own, it’s not like it matters!

Right now positivity is key
It will keep you happy, bright ,joyous you see!
Being generous, friendly, helpful and kind,
Will always be noticed and recognised!

Water is healthy
Water is fun
Water makes you energetic
But things are aesthetic

Rainbow

The rainbows are beautiful
The colours are red, orange, yellow,
green, blue and purple.
They look so happy
I wish there was one for me

Halloween

Spooky, scary vampires waiting silently in their coffins.
Scary, deadly witches flying scarily through the dark woods.
Freezing, costumed kids trick or treating scarily through the neighbourhood
Haunted, spooky spirits dancing beautifully in a haunted house.

Boredom

1
by Zelda aged 12

Boredom fills me
I sit down in front of the TV
Not knowing what to do
I waste my day
I want it to go away

I shop for fun
Never seeing the sun
No item is purchased
My world is a mess
My life is getting less and less

I sit down writing
Only school, nothing exciting
I’ve got sixty three documents
I have wasted my time
On this rhyme

Penalties

3
by Noah Baker aged 11

The game was played nil nil all square,
Time for the goalie to try and protect his white see-through lair.
First up the captain, shirt no.9,
He whispers to himself, “It’s goal-scoring time.”

As he steps up to the ball his mind starts to whirl
He remembers his coach tell him make the ball curl
He takes a deep breath and approaches ball
If he scores this he’ll be the best hero of them all.

He runs up to the ball and hits it with power
The crowd started cheering louder and louder
As the ball flies through the air it goes very high
Knowing this goal could break the tie

The goal-keeper’s eyes locked onto the ball
Knowing if he saves it he’ll be the best goalie of them all
The ball flies fast just like a jet
But then he saves it, luckily, before it hits the net

The home fans have their head in their hands
But the away fans though are just going mad
It was the best game since
The three lions roared in 1966
