Christmas, Santa and Me

2
by Shrihan Basu aged 7

My favorite days are near.
I will wake up early, full of cheer.
Will hang my stocking near the tree,
Mom will bake cookies—one, two or three!
Last night, I saw a reindeer in my dream,
Sparkling stars made him gleam.

He said, “Wake up boy, Santa is here!
Get ready and make your room clear.”
I just hope Santa finds my home,
While flying through the snow and foam.

Let me write a list with bright crayons,
And wish for toys, candies, hugs and so on.

I’ll share my cookies, with my besties,
And maybe some sweet for tasty treats!
The tree will glow, red and green,
It’s the prettiest one has ever seen!

We’ll sing some songs and laugh and play,
Because it’s Merry Christmas Day!

Kashmir

Kashmir full of beauty and snow
So allow me to show
With deep valleys down below
Operation Sindoor took revenge
Night of horror when Pakistan avenged
It all took place right in sight
But the poor dead couldn’t fight
Then came India’s shine and pride
Indian army fought with might
But Kashmir’s beauty is still the same
India is known for our Kashmir’s name
Spring here comes in May
Do you want to visit Kashmir, what do you say?

The Moon

The Moon throbs in the sky,
right above where I lie
It lights then dims,
waiting ’till Dawn

Pretty grey lights shine,
when I’m trying to find a dime,
the moonlit lights are lush,
and foxes are scurrying in a bush,
waiting ’till Dawn

The sky is dark,
wherever I lark,
the reflection is blue
where someone is too,
waiting ’till Dawn

Frogs

Frogs live in bogs
and they are wary of mogs
I love frogs
and so should you
Jumping about, they have so much to do!
But I’ll have you know
I like them oh so,
so let’s all jump about like frogs!

Corn on the cob on a great sunny day
Jump in the lake, hurray, hurray!
Have an ice cream or some peach cobbler
and savour the day that’s way longer

If… What if…

by Madyson aged 11

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I drove a car!
If… what if… I flew to Mars?
If… what if.. I bought a frog?
If… what if.. I got bitten by a dog?
If… what if… a cat appeared on my street?
If… what if… my little brother ate too much sweets?
Guess I’ll never know unless I try!

What Is True Love?

by Sharon aged 9

Love is sweet
But sometimes not cool
There is betrayal
The sun shines bright
Knowing you’re happily in love
It’s like eating food after years
Remember not everyone you can trust
Fresh air goes into you so easily, like your free

There once was a teacher called Miss Julia
And two little kids
Ryman was always tattle tale
Fria always caused trouble
Oh oh oh, Miss, Miss this boy Fira
keeps on snatching my rubber
Go hide in the toilet
Go put it in your mouth
Do whatever you like but don’t tell me
Miss, Miss, this boy Fira
keeps annoying me
Go hide in the closet
Go on top of the roof
Do anything darling, but don’t ask ask me
