Window Washing

the water sprayed from the nozzle shape,
soapy bubbles stuck together like tape

sponges and cloths and dirty grey rags
old yellow t-shirts with worn-out tags

scrubbing and wiping till the glass shone
taking small breaks with tea, a bon-bon

and when they’re done with the window wash
the person who lives there will give them the dosh

My Fantastic Family

0
by Rishaan Khanna aged 9

My family has 4 people, like four branches of a tree
It is my mother, father, sister and me
My sister is as cute as a fairy
With cheeks as red as a ripe, round cherry
In times of difficulty when the world raged a storm
My family stood together in a solid stone form
When the world was in isolation and engulfed in desolation
My family filled me with love and motivation
We played games and cooked together
In our backyard we enjoyed every weather
As we waded through the world, of online classes
So much of screen time made me wear glasses
My family is the mountain of strength and courage
So much of support I cannot envisage
My family is a symbol of love and hope
No matter how difficult the situation
We can always cope!!!

Coronavirus

by Lucy Earp aged 12

The time flies by as the lockdown rolls in,
we’ve all done it before so surely we can do it again,
Coronavirus has changed more deadly than before,
And the key workers are stressed, tired but not ignored,
The days are suddenly night as we all work so hard,
As even the dogs avoid people in the parks,
The children can’t play,
An the teens can’t mix,
But we have all done our part and that’s what makes us smart,
Coronavirus will be beaten know matter how hard ,
Because we will all work together to defeat this even though it is so large .

Do Not Feed ME to the Animals

by Chessie aged 10

I was once considered a tasty looking meal,
I’m glad I escaped my encounter,
With the meanest looking tiger!
I knew not to stick my hands through the bars,
But my friend did.
I told her to take them out but she didn’t.
Usually I would have told,
But this time I decided to help
So I stuck my hands in and pushed hers out.
But mine wouldn’t do what hers did…
Just then, a huge tiger walked towards my hands!
I wriggled and struggled but nothing would free me,
I thought I was done for,
Until the tiger freed me!
He scratched at the bars and hit them until they bent,
He freed me! I was saved!
And who would of thought a tiger
would have been lots of help?

Jam Doughnuts

Jam doughnuts!
With a sweet sugar coating,
And thick, oozy jam,
Soft, chewy dough,
And as big as your hand.

Jam doughnuts!
The perfect fit for a lunchbox,
Or a snack on the go,
Perfect for pudding after a meal,
Or a nibble in the snow.
