Concealed in the Stars

0
by Elsa Y aged 10

The sun is like a lava lamp peeking through the clouds,
Mercury’s a rocky, boulder moon
Venus is a fireball ready to burn out soon
Our planet is a colourful marble
Mars is an angry red ball
Jupiter is a brown balloon

This planet has rings of brown, grey and beige
Which are brighter than sand
Darker than a flame
Uranus is a cold pearl, hiding from the sun,
Neptune is a blue sea, its waves are blue streaks

If the universe is a black pool,
The stars are silver boats

And if galaxies are fried eggs
Then space is a black frying pan

Love

by Annaliese aged 11

Tender petals drop silently
as my breath rattles noisily,
The chilly breeze caressed my skin,
I spot in the distance.. a fin,
Waving at me and cutting through the water.

I gaze lovingly at the ocean,
It’s like a immersive potion
churning and mixing all night,
Patiently waiting on the morning light.

Finally, light battles away at the dark
and finally flying out of their nests
are the larks.
The Pantone suits robing them are the best.

At last I tear my eyes from what I love
and slowly trudge home,
but again I spot a pearly dove
and dawdle a little longer.

When I reach home
there is a magnet pulling me back,
right to that little track,
and when I went back,
I saw the things I love.

That One Night

by Annaliese Jade Ali aged 11

That one night when I snuck out of bed,
I remember it because it was what I dread,
A pale ghost haunted me,
Then two ghouls probably three,
Yes they came after me.

I dashed to my mom but she laughed at me,
I know she felt bad because one long ago night,
Yes she got a terrible fright
When she saw that pale ghost and the two ghouls, probably three,
Who had came after me!

If Only You Could

1
by Rihard Rimicans aged 9

If only you could see
A swarm of hollow men
Crawling, climbing, clambering
Onto the ghostly train
Back to the devil

If only you could touch
The sticky mud
In a disgusting swamp
Crawling, choking, drowning
Drowning

If only you could hear
Froth-corrupted gargles
Of courageous soldiers
Sobbing, suffocating, writhing
Like screaming in a mineshaft

If only you could see
Tear stained poppies
Weeping, sobbing, singing
In the wind-the wind
Echoes the voices of heroic soldiers

If only you could remember
The fearless soldiers
Crawling, sprinting, clambering
Dying for their beloved country
Trying the best they can.

I Couldn’t Speak At All

1
by Corey Burton aged 9

One cold night
I walked into the darkness
I heard the deafening gunshots
Of Germans, Italians and Austro Hungarians
In their stinky, sticky muddy trenches

All trying to win WW1
But the English, French and Russian soldiers
Wouldn’t give up
The General gives another order
We had to cross no man’s land

So we did
Seeing my friends dying
Until one of the gunshots
Got me
But I survived

I was petrified
Speechless with fear
From what I had witnessed
The words wouldn’t come

At the end of the War
I felt empty
I didn’t feel any emotion at all
Perhaps I had too much emotion
I just couldn’t speak at all.

Summer

by Moly Baasil aged 12

The sun is shining, the call of summer
Everyone’s free, lockdown is over,
School year’s finishing, hard work is done
Now let’s enjoy and have some fun

Having fun out on the beach,
The weather had a lesson teach,
Going to have a splash in the water,
The family and the sons and daughters

Going on vacation is such fun,
Especially in the sun,
Going outside to explore,
This is what summer is all for

Summer is a massive break,
This is the only opportunity to take
Enjoy it all for the summer,
Because it will end in September

Speaking Nature

We have the seven colours of the rainbow
Through the light we shine
Until we bump into a silver object
Like a pyramid through time

As we shimmer through the sky
And glide through the trees
And fly across the ocean
We see how much we see

When we get into the woods
We see how creepy it is
And we bump into a dark object
And disappear

The Dancing Dogs

Have you seen the Dancing Dogs,
Who can never sit still like logs.
When they hear a beat,
They get up and move their feet.

Have you seen the Dancing Dogs,
Who can never sit still like logs.
Oh, here they are.
Goodbye Everyone!
