Roses are red
Violets are blue

I went to have a run in the sun.

The day has just begun.

That’s good enough for everyone.

They can have a run in the sun.

Going on a Run

by Charlottei aged 11

I went on a run,
and it was fun,
in the sun,
eating a bun,
I saw a nun,
there was only one,
she quickly spun,
whilst holding a gun,
that weighed a ton,
she had a son,
who went on a run,
and that was me!

Hugs

by Charlottei aged 11

I want a hug today,
I’m cold and rather sad,
I had to see some ‘family-friends’
and I’m feeling rather bad.

I want a hug today,
I went to bed way too late,
and when I woke up in the morning
I had a stomach ache

I want a hug today,
one warm where you can hide,
I miss those great big envelopes
when you’re the letter inside.

School is Cool

by Elsa Murphy aged 11

Once upon a time there was a girl who liked school
and she said to her mum, School is cool.
There was a boy
and a girl who was preacher
There wasn’t an adult,
there was only a teacher.

Poppies

by Alexandra aged 11

Poppies represent the blood
Of the soldiers that have dug
Holes and caves and tunnels
To hide from the shooting guns.

The soldiers have fought with bravery,
But also with some slavery.
They have done this for us to now,
Have the freedom that they haven’t had.

Millions of soldiers,
Had gone away from home
To fight in the dreadful war.
They gave away their precious lives,
For us to now have peaceful nights.
