Children

by Nihira Das aged 9

Children love pets, toys and like causing mischief
Horrible pranks can get them in trouble in school or not.
If I were there with you and her I would tell her to eat broccoli
Let them have fun
Dreamland comes to them
Really nice toys they get
Easy to catch in hide and seek if you peek
Never ever will go to the doctor

Dyslexia

0
by Naroa Gurruchaga aged 13

I hate being dyslexic
And you will never hear me say that
I am proud of it
I am worse than the others
And it is certainly not true that
It defines who I am
I know in my heart that
It is a problem
I refuse to believe that
Being dyslexic makes me unique
I am ashamed of people knowing it
And no longer can I say that
I am as good as my friends

A True Warrior

1
by Inés Fiol aged 14

There is no need they say
but still you move
dragging your feet,
as tired as if you had finished
your late night shift
back in your youth.

You are old now
and your build isn’t like it was,
it has become history,
like the one you were part of
back when you were fighting for your country,
risking your life for others, for us.

But now they say there is no need
although still you move, wrinkled
with age,
as bossy as if lives
still depend on you.

But now it’s all gone,
sitting on your couch
watching what once was your life,
the aroma of gunpowder
corroding your lungs.

At your window
you wave us goodbye
like a soldier salute
with your wrinkled hands
full of bruises and scars
touching the cold glass
on a Saturday morning
as if you had forgotten
how to stop.

My Secret

0
by Lucia aged 14

My secret lives in my tummy It feels like a belt, it is tight
It is a big secret
That makes me feel sick
It tastes like lemon with dark chocolate
My secret is brownish
It is a heavy and big secret
Like rocks in my back
I am not telling this secret
It is private, an intimate secret
As much as I want to not have this secret in my back,
I can’t
It will stay silent forever.

My Secret

by Angie aged 14

My secret lives in my mind, my soul,
it flutters all around my body, nonstop.
It feels like waking up early in the morning,
while the entire city is still asleep.
A nostalgic wave flows through me,
leaving a sweet and sour taste.
A sunset-like amber invades my secret,
reflecting the warmth of it.
Only the author knows about this,
I’ll keep my secret to myself,
because the author enjoys gatekeeping
a lot of things about herself.

My Life

0
by Nihira Das aged 9

My life is a mystery
Yet more adventures to come

Let us live in peace
Is there more to see?
From today I shall say we don’t know how life could be
Enough shelter, food, water, air and love
is all I need in my life
My life is lucky indeed

Autism

0
by José María Roger Ojea aged 13

Autism is a disease
so you will never hear them say that
it is a condition.
I know that
I will never be accepted in our society
and that
I will always be peculiar
I refuse to believe that
there is some sort of hope for us.
We should be ashamed of themselves.
No longer can I say that
we diserve some respect.

My Friend

0
by Laura Garcia aged 13

I love my friend
And you will never hear me say that
I want to stop talking to her
I know for sure
She is a good influence on me and that
Being her friend is a good idea.
I refuse to believe that
She is a troublemaker,
She is the best
And I will never think
I hate her.

My Secret

0
by Ignacio Casas aged 14

My secret lives
in my brain
locked up.
It feels
small and light
inside an anchor
deep In the sea
but takes a huge place
in my brain.
It makes me want to
get up and run
Run the fastest I can
Feel the burn in my legs
and keep going until
they fall off.
My secret
bounces around in me
It tastes
bitter and sour
The colour of my secret is
a mix of strong colours
Red, black, green, orange
With a rough spiky texture
The object would be
a knife
deep in my body
unable to get out.
The secret stays with me
Locked up
forever
in a box
inside my brain

Midnight Thunderstorm

0
by Spring aged 10

While I’m asleep tucked into bed
I thought I had banged my head
I heard a peculiar thing?
Immediately, I woke up to go and peer out of my window
And discover rain drops sprinkling then and there!
This is the first time I have investigated…
And I want to much more
But I think I’ll call this the “Midnight Cloudburst”
