Everything I Like

I will put in the box

the smell of a delicious dinner

the sound of my favourite song

smooth hair softer than silk

I will put in the box

a dress made of satin and gold

a ring that shines like the sun

the sneeze of a newborn baby

I will put in the box

A dragon that breathes water

a monkey with the speed of a cheetah

a panther with skin white as snow

I will put in the box

a unicorn with five pointy horns

the laughter of a tall funny clown

A cat as cute as a little puppy

My box is fashioned from cotton, diamond, and pearls

with crystals on the lid and white stones in the corners.

Its hinges are made of gold

The Problem We All Live With

2
by Khadeejah Jannah Khalid aged 9

The problem we all live with,
Never lets a hope get lit,

Doesn’t matter what colour of hair,
Why a different lair?

Doesn’t matter what colour of skin,
why a different seat on a bus?

Or a school or no food – it’s enough!
Racism’s so unfair!

The only thing we lack is the colour white,
The only thing you lack is the sense of right!

Why does my colour matter,
As the peace starts to shatter?

As our world is aflame,
Fueled my tears ,and your hate.

This fire will destroy us all,
Not just me, you’ll see!

The Contrast of the Two Worlds

0
by Shifa Asif aged 12

Across the bridges,
Across the trees,
Across the river,
Far from the bubbling crowds,
In the cool breeze,
Among the mountains,
There is a home,
Wide enough to live,
Filled with laughter and positive vibes,
Going out and having a walk,
Playing kids inside,
Outside a beautiful town it is,
Humongous gates,
Big green gardens,
Pools and chairs,
Huts and lemonade,
Everything your imagination can invade!

Useless everything is, why?
Nothing to do on a long boring day,
The wind took everything away!
The apple of my eye,
The thrill of my nerves,
The vigor of my body,
The serenity of my brain,
The scent of my loved ones,
The sound of pleasure,
Laughter and cries of hope,
The joy of togetherness,
Company of friends,
Those who enriched my life,
Part of my soul,
The heart became a desert,
Of emptiness and shadows of the past.

Summertime

by Sherdil Asif aged 9

Aah,
I remember the old days when it was summer,
I ate yummy juicy mangos and sour strawberries,
I played in the rain,
I played in my open wide porch,
I used to turn on the cooling air conditioner,
I miss the light and slight breeze,
I hope summer comes very soon.

Once there was a MONSTEROUS WIZARD
who was the most mysteriously, dangerous and faithful man
Beause he annoyed and destroyed the village
and the people who live their normal lives there
Then when the the MONSTEROUS WIZARD came
and moved into to the village the people were annoyed and upset
because of the MONSTEROUS WIZARD.

Good Night,
Sleep tight,
Turn off the lights,
Don’t let the bed bugs bite,
And when you wake up,
Sit up fresh and bright!

As Winter Happens

by Oscar aged 11

As the snow falls
As the snowmen are built
As the kids run in the snow
As they throw snowballs at each other
As the cars slip down the road
While I watch this all
I see why winter is the best time of year

Sugar Rush

1
by Edith aged 10

At night-time I never got that much sleep
so I always was late for school.
Because late at night I would go to my table next to my bed
and grab my jar of jelly-babies!
Then I will have a sugar rush and can’t get to sleep,
then because I can’t get to sleep I break out the old dairy milk,
plain but tasty mmmmhmmmmmmm.
But oh no, it’s gone, I ate all of my chocolate!
So I open my door, creak,
down the stairs, thump thump thump,
then into the kitchen open the cupboard and…
A packet of dark chocolate digestives!
My mouth starts to water and I take them out.
Maybe Mum won’t realise if I took one, just one you know, no big deal!
Then about ten mins later I went down for another,
then another ten mins alter
and I went down again, and again
and then I went down again
It was really late, and there was one left!
They don’t go from almost a full pack, to ONE LEFT!
Which is why I get
a SUGAR RUSH
