Bored at home in isolation

0
by Lyra Zborowski aged 11

It’s that time again,
My bubble has burst.
Someone in my class has sadly got the curse.
The curse, that is, of coronavirus,
So we all have to stay at home.

It’s very boring here,
There is work from home,
But it’s so much quicker when Miss isn’t explaining the simplest things,
So I get done and then I’m told to ‘Let my creativity roam’.

Tell me, how am I to do that if I’m not allowed out of the house?
I’ll tell you:
Write a poem.

Summer

by Melody Massomi aged 9

Summer is cool, summer is dope
Summer is climbing down this rope.
Oh no, it’s too hot
You gotta put the sunscreen on whether you like it or not
It’s not fun, it burns your eyes
But at least you don’t have to multiply!
Wear your bikinis
Lets go to the beach
And swim, swim, swim!

I Have an Annoying Brother

by Melody aged 9

I have an annoying brother!
He really loves his mother.
Although he can be bad
He is a cute lad
He also loves his dad
We sometimes get along but then we fight
All day long at night
We stay up together
He will be my best friend forever!

The Fallen Soldiers

0
by Ann Lenard aged 11

A soldier marching going into battle
carrying a lucky charm from home

He wanted to remind himself
of how it felt to be alone
because his family had died and he wanted to fight

He finally reached the battlefield
all was set and they can’t rest,

3…2…1…

It has started.
Some people have fallen and couldn’t rise from the grave
but they did something good for their people

They were all starving, their wasn’t even bread
They were all raided by the German bombs
and some families were even dead

A soldier named Tom had a tear running down his fumed red cheek
as he watched the soldiers go down one by one

His head filled with fume as he walked to the Germans
To avenge his friend but something was bothering him

Behind him he felt something from his back –
it was blood gushing down like water

He fell down.

Before he died, he thought about the yummy roast dinners
his mum cooked him
about children laughing
and most of all a piece of home.

My Pet

I have a dog.
It’s so sad,
But it’s not bad.
It runs very fast,
And loudly barks.
It is golden,
It’s tail is so fat.
I like my dog,
Do you like your dog?

The Moon

There is no Moon,
But it will come soon.
It will come in the night,
Sun gives him light,
Then Moon looks very bright.

Summer

by Eshal Fatima Hasan aged 9

Summer is warm,
Summer is home,
Running and playing,
The horses are neighing,
Going to our friends,
The fun never ends,
Going to the zoo,
The cow said moo,
Going to the park,
Morning ‘n’ noon

I like my books,
They are my friends.
They give me knowledge of the world,
From their words.
They are important in life.
I love my books,
Do you love your books?

I Wish I Could Fly

0
by Chris aged 8

I wish I could fly
Fly to the moon
Fly very high
I could very soon.

I wish I could fly
Fly to the galaxy
Fly very high
I could almost touch the pixie.

I wish I could fly
Fly to the universe.
Fly very high
I could almost touch the black sky.

Nah… it doesn’t matter.
