moving slowly through the sky

Once I Had Blonde Hair

0
by Daisy Dye aged 10

Once I had blonde hair
it was pretty as could be
I could straighten it
and it would shimmer like it was gold

When I turned around
it would be very wavy
when you felt it
it felt as soft as a baby

I would get loads of compliments
on how pretty my hair was
but now all I have is
boring brunette

Once I Was a Wizard

1
by Daisy aged 10

Once I was a wizard
It was so crazy
I had a long pointy hat and had a spell book
It was so crazy
You wait and see
I had a cauldron and my hair was
As black as black can be
Once I was a wizard
You wait and see

Brown Eyes

3
by Iliana aged 11

Everybody loves coloured eyes,
Like the ones that glow right in front of you,
Like the ones that take you by surprise,
Like the ones that are hazel, green or blue

I’m jealous of eyes that glint like emeralds
Or eyes as calming as a morning sky
I wish I had eyes that twinkled
Because I have brown eyes

I find them dazzling though
And I cherish them dearly
They’re gentle, loving and warm
And they look like cups of coffee

They look like a box of chocolates
That you’d receive on Valentine’s Day
My love for my eyes is infinite
And it will never die away

But when I step in the sunlight
My eyes look like pools of honey
I feel confident outside
Because eyes look so sunny

Next time you feel upset
Because your eyes aren’t green or blue,
Tell yourself this:
My eyes are loved too.

School

1
by Abel James aged 9

Schools are such accommodating places
Do you get what I mean?
Everyone has a dream to achieve
Schools help you fulfill your dreams
It’s like a quest that we have to complete.

Schools are scholarly places
Do you get what I mean?
Schools are full of surprises
It’s like being in a quiz show.

Schools are such modest places
Do you get what I mean?
There are uniforms that make you simple
not extravagant
I mean it’s like being at home

Schools are safe places
Do you get what I mean?
There are big bodyguards
This place is a danger-free zone.
it’s like being in the White House.

Hand on the Sport

1
by Robbie O Brien aged 9

Hand on the jersey, feel the pride inside
Hand on the hurl, feel the rhythm of the match
Hand on the sliotar, feel the rhythm of the catch
Hand on the ground, feel the rhythm of the crowd
Hand on the cup and lift it up
Hand on the cup and lift it up
Hand on the cup and lift it up

I Am Keeping My Distance

by Katelyn Kearney aged 9

I am keeping my distance from people today
I am trying to stay a least six feet away…

Animal Treats

2
by Nathan Philmon aged 7

Please do not treat the snakes
with pancakes

or the mice
with a plate of rice

Do not give the apes
cornflakes

or the horse
sauce

Remember that pigs are not allowed
figs

or hyenas
bananas

Most importantly do not feed the monkeys
your mummies

Ghost

7
by Zariya aged 10

He whispers whilst traipsing
Through the empty halls
Revealed by the moonlight
Echoing his calls.

His voice is silent
His heart in despair
Nobody would listen
No one would care

People think he’s terror
Spook and creep
He has no friends
He’s really just weak

He carries on meandering
Through the dark and grim
He approaches a corner
And begins to curl in.

I have no friends!
I’m all alone!
And for hours and hours,
He weeps and groans.

Everyone has a friend, he sobs,
But I do not!
So here I shall stay
And here I shall rot
