I’m hiding
up a tree and no one
will find me. In hide-and-seek. He
has found everyone else but not me. They
will be looking everywhere for
me. They will never ever
never ever
never
ever
ever
find me

Sloths are Fast

1
by Maja Wilson aged 10

Did you know that sloths are very fast

Did you know that sloths have an occasional blast

Did you know that their speed lasts

Did you know that we didn’t know this in the past

Did you know that sloths are running past

Did you know that sloths are very fast

The Cut that Always Bleeds

1
by Nina aged 11

The cut that always bleeds
The cuts that no one sees
The cuts parents do
The cuts that boys leave too
The cuts that the mean girls leave behind
The cuts that are hidden, they can’t find
The cuts that enter deep in your heart
The ones that stay slowly tearing you apart
The ones that linger and sting too
The cuts that bleed because of you
The cuts that don’t care
The cuts, deep and bare

What Are You?

0
by Charlotte Van aged 10

You are a snowy mountain, freezing anything in your path, as icy as a polar bear’s coat.

You are the deep feeling of a never growing plant, dark stars and still planets.

You are the distance between an exhilarating sun and a moon full of secrets.

You are a slice of imagination, filling your brain with myths and legends.

You are a vivid taste of joy, bringing bliss to whoever you meet.

You are spring, with a radiant sun, kids having fun and one single wish.

You are Christmas, no matter the weather you always fund a way to make people smile.

Confessions of a Rotten Girl

0
by Ivy aged 10

I swore I’d never sin again,
But my patients running thin,
Student council,
Breathing down my neck,
I wonder if they’re hiding from me…

Forbidden fruits before my eyes,
And a taste that’s so divine,
My regrets,
Rewriting history,
I’m a sad, pathetic girl.

I Love my Cat

0
by Anaiyah and Lexie aged 10 and 11

I love my cat
she is so fat
she has cosy fur
and she always purrs
I love my cat
she is so funny
and loves it
when I tickle her tummy

Poems Can…

by Evie aged 9

Poems can rhyme
Poems can stretch over time
Poems can be a weird shape
Poems can be shaped like a grape
Poems can be short
Poems can be about sport
Poems can be anything
Poems can be everything!

Dazzling Midnight Dancers

0
by Veer Sorout aged 10

Dancing at midnight
Filling the sky with colourful light
So fluorescent and bright
With stars sparkling amidst the auroras
Filling a heart with awe and delight
Jumping with joy as we have seen the Northern Lights
The mighty sun
Letting out its rays to dance around
In the Earth’s sky,
But also sending them to planets like
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune,
Or sometimes even Mars
The rays enjoy to dance in the cold
At the North and South poles,
They look like falling sparks and flames
Or daylight in the night sky
These merry dancers are also known as
Polar lights.
They look like the dawn in the land of the midnight
Sometimes I wonder,
If they are related with the rainbow,
Both showing up in the sky
Putting up a colourful play
Whenever they stop by.
Appearing not so long ago
All across the United Kingdoms.
They are seen to fishermen
As an omen for a good haul
They call it the herring flash.
They were first seen around 2800 years ago
But first happened around 27,000 years earlier
It was explained by a Norwegian scientist
Captain James Cook named the ‘Aurora Australis’
Which is just another name for the Northern Lights.
Sometimes you can hear a hissing,
Followed by a sharp clapping and cracking
They are most commonly seen as red or green.
Sparkling and shimmering,
Dazzling us with a show worthy of a god.
In twilight’s dance, the colours swirl,
A canvas bright, where whispers twirl.
Green ribbons stretch across the night,
Nature’s brush in bright light,
A silent song, the stars shine.

This Bond Never Breaks

2
by Veer Sorout aged 10

Friendship is a beautiful thing
When you are with friends you are fearless,
With them, all moments are full of bliss.
You are simply in a world of your own,
Where nothing exists,
Except your friends and you.
In this world there are no blues.
You can only feel the happiness,
Amidst all the dubiousness
The best of friends have a rope,
It may have knots,
It may twist and turn,
But no matter what happens,
It will never break.
No matter the distance,
Even if they are on different sides of the planet,
On different poles,
In different time zones,
In different worlds,
The bond never breaks.

Your Life, Your Choice

0
by Rosie Gallagher aged 10

Life is easy,
Life is hard,
Life is like a little card,
Informing you everything you need to know,
Or maybe life is like a show,
You take a seat and watch it happen,
Never thinking about when life will blacken,
Or maybe life is not a good thing,
Your feel like you don’t quite fit in,
All you want to do is disappear,
And the only emotion you feel is fear,
Or maybe life is like a rollercoaster,
Always with its ups and downs,
When it goes up you’re soaring high into the sky,
When down you feel miserable and shy,
But life shall always have a purpose,
And slowly yet surely you will merge
Onto your path to success,
Be kind to yourself and you will find
Love will guide you through the rest.
