Snow

by Medhaswi Kundu aged 10

We wake up to it
A white flurry of tiny crystals
Ever changing, ever intricate, ever beautiful
We smile.

Picture Perfect
We reach out to them, but they melt into icy water
They belong to another world
We will never get close enough to see
The intricate designs, the delicate architecture, the wonderful patterns
They are too cold.

Untouchable,
Never condescending to speak to us
Reserved, Calm and Wonderful.

Snow.

My Mother

by Inaaya Anish aged 9

My loving mother,
Yarrow of my world.

Making delicious food,
Opening a fresh mind,
Together we spend time,
Helping hands for everyone,
Establishing my dreams,
Raising a lovely me.

Kindness

Kindness in every virtue
In every act
Nurturing everyone but yourself
Denying meanness.

Boring and Fun

by Ameerah aged 7

School is boring
Home is boring
Parks are fun
Fun fairs are fun
Cousins are fun and friends are kinda fun but most of all everyone is fun!
Even teachers who might cheer you up
Games are fun
Everything is fun
Boys are boring for girls sometimes
And girls are boring for boys sometimes
If you are sad anyone can cheer you up
If you want to be alone you don’t have to worry

My Principal

Ma’am Hadia has short black hair,
And she’s very fair.
She’s smart and has a big heart,
She’s cool and has a magical tool
With which she rules.
She makes school a happy place,
With fun and smiles on every face!

ADHD

Having ADHD is tough
You think about one thing then another
You can’t sit still, you can’t stand still
It’s hard to focus
You focus on this, you focus on that
Then you can’t remember
what you were focusing about
It’s hard to take a joke
when you’re sitting in class
You can’t resist getting up

Land of Blue that Comes to You

by Olivia aged 9

I know you might feel blue
But always make a thing to do
Nothing really matters
Make yourself a thing of green

You might feel glum or even weak
But stand up and show pride
Don’t worry about a little thing
That seems big inside

School

by Addison aged 9

School is fun.
We get to play and see our friends
but when it comes to school work better get focused.
We get to talk from time to time
so then we don’t mess around in school.
Your brain needs to be strong so you can do a good job.
Everyone who works there can do their job.

Just Try to Understand Me

by Arthur Harvey aged 10

Just Try to Understand Me
I feel things louder, big and bright,
It’s hard to calm down, even when I fight.
With ADHD, my mind runs fast,
Thoughts zoom by, they never last.
My autism makes the world feel strong
Noises, lights, and crowds feel wrong.
When someone’s close, it’s hard to breathe,
I get annoyed, I want to leave.
I want to listen, sit, and stay,
But sometimes words just drift away.
The noises stack up, loud and strong,
Like every sound’s a banging gong.
I know I mess up, it makes me sad,
I don’t want to make you mad.
I feel like sometimes I’m left out,
And punished more that fills me with doubt.
I try my best but need some space,
A little time, a slower pace.
If you could see the world I see,
You’d know it’s not that easy for me.
With patience, care, and space to roam,
School would feel more like home.

The Four Seasons

by Lila Everest aged 11

Flowers start to bloom,
Bees buzzing, life is re-born,
Lime leaves cover trees.

Gently lapping waves,
Beaches sandy, sapphire skies,
Sleeping in the heat.

Dark nights and cold days.
Leaves of amber fluttering,
Falling to the ground.

Tinsel and sweet pine,
Snow falling, glistening frost,
Family round the tree.
