Your happiness is like a purse full of joy.
Your sadness feels like a bag full of despair.
Your fear looks like a donkey holding a ghost costume.
Your excitement is like a volcano exploding.
Your fascination is like watching a donkey
balance a house with a donkey on top.

The Howling Wind

O wind, why don’t you get it,
Blowing things everywhere,
You could get us wet a bit,
Do you do this anywhere?

Animals

I love animals big and small
I love animals short and tall
I like a lion, hear him roar,
I like the sleepy sloth,
Hear him snore
From itty bitty insects
To tall giraffes,
Even the cheeky hyenas
Who like to laugh,
Animals are great I love them all,
Any animal big or small

The sun is beautiful
The moon is beautiful too
A human like you
I could not change it for anyone

The kids are bunched up in a pack.
They stand ready to attack
Soon the whistle will be blown
They’ll race all over the grass that’s freshly mown
That’s the lot from the of Easter Egg Bunny
Who hops and hops up and down

I try to sleep before ten,
before the ten chimes of Big Ben.
I try to sleep at ten-thirty-two
but suddenly I need the loo
I try to sleep at eleven o clock
I listen to my watch, tick-tock, tick tock
I sleep at oh, oh, hundred – midnight
I sleep with my blanket, held on tight
I wake at six forty four
just another minute or an hour more

Pink Flowers

by Ella Cripps aged 10

In the grassy fields, a long way away
Are some beautiful flowers on display
They have a shine which glows so bright
It fills the whole field with delight

Their stems sway in the gentle breeze
As their vibrant, pink petals attract the bees
People go there on warm, glorious days
To enjoy picnics with the sun’s rays

sad days in the summer
sad days in the time
when it’s not my birthday
I wish you could say SAD DAYS
oh I wish I could always use repetition in poems
if not it will be sad days
goodbye happy days
WELCOME sad days.
